Jacob deGrom has been nasty in 2017, posting career highs in both strikeout rate (29.0%) and swinging-strike rate (13.9%). Both of those marks rank inside the top six among qualified starters, and he's also sporting a solid 3.50 skill-interactive ERA (SIERA).

None of the top-priced pitchers on Wednesday's main slate have especially exciting matchups, but he's taking on a St. Louis Cardinals team that sits in the middle of the pack in both strikeout rate (21.4%) and wRC+ (99) against right-handed pitchers this season. And the Cards' 3.68 implied total is the lowest mark on the slate.
