4 Daily Fantasy Baseball Players to Avoid on 7/17/17

Marwin Gonzalez has been piling up the fantasy points, but the numbers suggest regression is coming. Who else should you avoid in tonight's FanDuel contests?

Looks like we're going to have some extra hitting money on tonight's FanDuel main slate, with Jon Lester ($9,500) checking in under the five-figure mark as the most-expensive pitcher.

However, Lance McCullers ($9,100) catches the eye as the top play, though, as his opponent, the Seattle Mariners, have the lowest implied team total (3.67). The Mariners are hardly a cakewalk, but McCullers has a dazzling 3.06 SIERA, 28.0% strikeout rate, and 63.0% ground-ball rate. He's stumbled a bit in his last couple starts, and often doesn't pitch deep into games, but you won't find anyone else on the slate who comes close to those pristine numbers.

The aforementioned Lester makes for a worthy pivot, but you can also look to Eduardo Rodriguez ($8,600), who is returning from the DL to face the Toronto Blue Jays. The Blue Jays are a neutral matchup, but Rodriguez had a 26.3% strikeout rate and 11.9% swinging-strike rate prior to his injury, so he has some upside as a tournament play.

But if you really want to go nuts with your bats, then Brent Suter ($6,600) is the way to go. Splitting time between the bullpen and rotation, in two July starts he's struck out 13 batters in 12 1/3 innings. There's obviously plenty of risk in using a pitcher with all of 27 1/3 innings in the majors this season, but at his price he won't need to be perfect if your stacks take off. Did I mention Coors Field is in play tonight?

Now, let's get down to the nitty-gritty. Here are four guys to consider avoiding in your FanDuel lineups.
