There aren't a ton of high-priced pitchers on Thursday's main slate, and with some red flags on the other options, Clayton Kershaw stands out as the easy top choice -- if you're paying up at the position, you're going to want to pay all the way up.

While this has been, by most measures, a down year for Kershaw, his 3.09 skill-interactive ERA (SIERA), 29.2% strikeout rate, 4.3% walk rate and 12.7% swinging-strike rate are still outstanding marks. He's also been producing well recently, with at least eight strikeouts in four of his last five starts.

He also draws a good matchup against the Los Angeles Angels, and while they don't strikeout often, all we have to do is look at their active roster (see: the Angels sans Mike Trout) to see they have an ugly 82 wRC+ against southpaws.

The Los Angeles Dodgers are also the main slate's second-biggest favorites (-210 money line) and the Angels have Thursday's lowest implied total (3.11).
