3 Daily Fantasy Baseball Players to Avoid on 6/22/17
Despite some high strikeout numbers in June, Jaime Garcia still lacks the upside to use in tonight's DFS contests.

Jaime Garcia, SP, Atlanta Braves

FanDuel Price: $8,000

If you check out Jaime Garcia's June splits, you'll notice that through three starts he has a 24.1% strikeout rate and a 17.0% swinging-strike rate. Boy howdy, we've hit the jackpot!

Hold your horses there, cowboy. This sure looks like a whole lot of small sample size noise when you consider he has a 17.5% strikeout rate on the season, along with a 19.1% career rate. With an average velocity of around 91 mph, Garcia's game has always been inducing ground balls and limiting hard contact. And he's done a good job of that this year, with a 56.5% ground-ball rate and 25.5% hard-hit rate. Unfortunately, that doesn't net you any extra fantasy points.

Additionally, although the San Francisco Giants don't pack a lot of punch, they also don't strikeout much either, with an active roster fanning to lefties just 17.6% of the time.

Alas, Garcia is no diamond in the rough. His 11.1% swinging-strike rate suggests his strikeout rate should improve, but he remains a better real life pitcher than in DFS.
