3 Daily Fantasy Baseball Players to Avoid on 6/15/17

Justin Verlander isn't showing the same strikeout upside he flashed in 2016, making him a risky DFS play. Who else should you fade on tonight's main slate?

As has been the case most of the week, one pitcher stands out above all others on the FanDuel main slate, and today that's Chris Sale ($11,500). Lately, he hasn't been quite as dominant as his eight-outing stretch of 10-plus strikeout games, but he's only dipped below 40 points in one start over the entire season. He's about as safe as you get, and really, who are you going to side with, Sale or the Philadelphia Phillies?

Past Sale, Jordan Montgomery ($7,500) is an excellent value play against the Oakland Athletics, whose active roster strikes out 24.7% of the time to southpaws. Montgomery has sported a sneaky good swinging-strike rate all season (12.7%), which is better than the swinging-strike rates of Clayton Kershaw, Lance McCullers and Stephen Strasburg. Keep in mind that we might have strong winds blowing out in Oakland tonight, however.

Rolling with someone like Montgomery will allow you stock up on the Colorado Rockies' bats against fly-ball pitcher Matt Moore (5.01 SIERA), which is never a bad thing. The Boston Red Sox also get yet another chance to feast on Phillies pitching, this time against Nick Pivetta (5.02 SIERA).

We have a fun, tidy seven-game slate on tap tonight. Here are three guys to consider avoiding in your lineups.
