4 Daily Fantasy Baseball Players to Avoid on 6/5/17

J.A. Happ has some nice peripherals, but they can't be trusted in a small sample size. Who else should you avoid in MLB DFS?

We have some solid pitching options on the FanDuel main slate this evening, although there isn't a clear-cut top choice.

Carlos Martinez ($10,000) is on a streak of six games with 40-plus FanDuel points, but pitching on a hot day in Cincinnati is never fun. Despite a 4.63 ERA, Jeff Samardzija ($8,900) has been sneaky good this season with a 2.99 SIERA and 28.3% strikeout rate, and has some upside in a road start against the Milwaukee Brewers.

But with both pitchers getting implied team totals against them over 4.00, they carry a little more risk than you'd normally like in your cash game pitcher.

Moving down in price, Sean Manaea ($7,700) and Junior Guerra ($8,200) have the best swinging-strike rates on the slate (14.3% and 13.8%, respectively), although Guerra has only made three starts. Manaea has back-to-back 55-point FanDuel outings, but he'll take on a Toronto Blue Jays team that's finally healthy, and can field an entire lineup of righty bats.

Also, keep an eye on the weather in Wrigley, as heavy winds could be blowing in tonight, which would put Dan Straily ($8,500) in play.

Some good hitting spots include the red-hot Houston Astros against Ian Kennedy, who had a forgettable May (11.30 ERA in four starts), and both sides of the Philadelphia Phillies and Atlanta Braves matchup. The St. Louis Cardinals get Asher Wojciechowski (6.66 career ERA) making his fifth career start.

Here are four players to fade on tonight's seven-game slate.
