4 Daily Fantasy Baseball Players to Avoid on 5/8/17
We have yet another slate with Coors Field, but there's some dicey weather in the forecast throwing a wrench into things. Also, with Jake Arrieta on the mound and the Chicago Cubs coming off last night's 18-inning marathon against the New York Yankees, maybe this won't be a night for Coors fireworks? Still, if the weather remains shaky, but playable, this could be a chance at some lower ownership in tournaments.
On the pitching side, we have one of the New York Mets' few bright spots, Jacob deGrom ($10,700), at the top of the food chain. He and his 31.6% strikeout rate take on the San Francisco Giants and their league-low 68 wRC+ versus righties. That's tough to pass up, particularly in cash.
But we also have Carlos Martinez ($9,500), and the surprisingly too cheap Trevor Cahill ($7,200) available for consideration. Nate Karns ($7,000) could be a sneaky tournament flyer against the Tampa Bay Rays, who have a 25.9% strikeout rate against right-handers. Karns put up 49.0 FanDuel points versus the Chicago White Sox his last time out.
Switching over to hitters (outside of Coors), we've got Trevor Williams (5.01 SIERA) taking on the Los Angeles Dodgers, the aptly named rookie, Rookie Davis (5.69 SIERA), going against the New York Yankees, and the struggling Kevin Gausman (5.59 SIERA) versus the Washington Nationals.
With 10 games on tap, we need to wash our hands of the sub-optimal plays. Here are four guys to avoid tonight.
