4 Daily Fantasy Baseball Players to Avoid on 5/3/17
Robbie Ray may have a 30.2% strikeout rate, but he's not worth the risk against the Nationals. Who else should you fade in daily fantasy baseball today?

Robbie Ray, SP, Arizona Diamondbacks

FanDuel Price: $8,300

Oftentimes, Robbie Ray makes for a great tournament play due to his elite strikeout rate (30.2%), even though he struggles with walks (13.2%).

Tonight isn't one of those nights, however.

Ray faces the Washington Nationals, who are the hardest matchup for southpaws so far this year. In 143 plate appearances against lefties, the Nats have a whopping 179 wRC+ with just a 18.9% strikeout rate. Due to the small sample size, the numbers are a bit inflated, but the Nats also have a 126 wRC+ against all pitchers -- the second-best mark in the league.

Washington also typically starts just two lefties, and those guys aren't exactly slouches in Bryce Harper and Daniel Murphy. In his career, Ray has a 38.3% hard-hit rate against right-handed bats.

Either way you slice it, Ray will have his hands full.

If the price were lower, you might be able to rationalize taking a shot at that upside, but with other strong options available, it's simply not a necessary risk.
