Kyle Gibson, SP, Minnesota Twins

FanDuel Price: $5,600

Why He Will Go Overlooked:

Does everyone remember Max Scherzer's knuckle injury and all of the concern? Mad Max seems to have put that behind himself pretty well, as he's posted a 2.94 SIERA over his four starts en route to a 31.4% strikeout rate. Currently slated as heavy favorites on the day, Scherzer takes on the banged-up New York Mets, who only have an implied team total of 3.08 runs, the lowest on the slate.

One pitcher not likely to see a ton of ownership is Minnesota Twins starter Kyle Gibson. Gibson's been roughed up over his first four turns, logging an 0-3 record and a 4.69 SIERA. He'll need to limit the big fly, as he's already allowed five of them on the young season.

Why You Should Use Him:

Part of the intrigue of using Gibson is that he faces a really bad Kansas City Royals offense. The Royals rank dead last in the league in wOBA at .260 -- a full 21 points lower than the second-worst San Francisco Giants (.281), and also rank last as a team in wRC+.

In addition to those struggles, they strike out a ton -- the Royals rank eighth-worst in strikeout rate at 23.1%.

While Gibson certainly isn't a big strikeout guy -- he has a below-average 14.3% rate -- there's plenty of positives for him in this matchup. At such a low price point, rostering Gibson allows for some flexibility to fit some big bats in.
