The most expensive picture on Friday's 15-game slate, Max Scherzer is well worth paying up for.

Not only has he consistently proven to be a massive strikeout threat -- his strikeout rate has been north of 27.5% in each of the last five seasons -- but he is also on pace for a strikeout rate north of 30.0% for his third straight year. His current 15.9% swinging-strike rate to start this year is ahead of the career-high 15.3% mark he posted in both 2015 and 2016.

The New York Mets own the league's 12th-highest strikeout rate against right-handed pitching this season, while their 72 wRC+ is tied as the second-worst mark in the Majors.The Washington Nationals are big favorites today (-154 moneyline) and the Mets' 3.16 implied total is Friday's lowest mark.
