Francisco Liriano, SP, Toronto Blue Jays

FanDuel Price: $8,300

Francisco Liriano is the poster boy for a boom-or-bust pitcher -- the kind of guy you almost never risk in cash, but has the upside to win you a GPP. This is due to having excellent stuff but often struggling to control it from start to start. Last season, he had a 23% strikeout rate but a woeful 11.6% walk rate.

He's certainly followed that mold in his two starts this season, posting an awfully nice looking 32.4% strikeout rate with a 17.7% walk rate that looks plain awful. True to form, the scores of those starts were -11 and 48 on FanDuel. He's frustrating, but it's that ceiling that keeps you coming back.

However, his matchup against the Boston Red Sox limits that upside enough that he's best avoiding. This season the Red Sox have the lowest strikeout rate in the league (15.7%), and they had the third lowest rate last year (18.4%).

Against a patient team like the Red Sox, chances are you're getting the Mr. Hyde version of Liriano.

If you're looking for a risky GPP play, Vincent Velaquez makes more sense at $500 cheaper.
