3 Daily Fantasy Baseball Players to Avoid on 4/12/17
There aren't any aces on the mound today, but you should still pass on Zack Wheeler. Who else should you avoid?

Zack Wheeler, SP, New York Mets

FanDuel Price: $6,200

There aren't any aces on the mound today, with no pitcher priced higher than $9,000, so there are only a handful of solid pitching options. On a day like this, you might then consider taking a chance on a cheaper option like Zack Wheeler in hopes of hitting the jackpot.

Unfortunately, while Wheeler has the name value and some historical success, it's probably still not worth taking a chance on him.

In his opening start, he pitched four innings, giving up five runs and notching four strikeouts. Hardly a resounding success, but the most concerning part is he was on a strict pitch count and is on an innings limit for the season. The New York Mets aren't going to take any chances with him, which severely limits his upside, particularly on a site like FanDuel where there is a quality start bonus.

It's also worth remembering that until his season opener, Wheeler hadn't pitched in the majors since 2014. His career strikeout rate (22.1%) and walk rate (10.1%) aren't even that impressive for a guy with so much risk. Wheeler is a hard pass today.
