Mike Trout is coming off a 2016 campaign that saw him rank second among qualifying hitters with a .418 wOBA, having posted a .315/.441/.550 slash with a .235 isolated slugging (ISO) with a career-best 41.7% hard-hit rate. He made especially good contact against southpaws last year, with a 46.2% hard-hit rate.

He brings that elite production into a favorable matchup against the Oakland Athletics' left-handed hurler Sean Manaea.

Manaea posted a 4.04 skill-interactive ERA (SIERA) as a rookie last season, while right-handed hitters tagged him for a .322 wOBA, 4.26 xFIP and 33.7% hard-hit rate. He's likely going to have a really hard time with Trout tonight.
