In Greg Maddux's 12th season in the big leagues, he posted a WAR of 8.0 across 33 starts. He went 19-4 with a 2.43 FIP and just 0.77 walks per nine innings.

For his efforts, Maddux was voted to the All-Star Game, along with being awarded the NL Cy Young and Gold Glove at his position.
