Fantasy Baseball: A Value Hitter at Every Position
These players, all of whom own an average draft position outside the top 100, are primed to deliver as late-round value picks.

Justin Bour, 1B, Miami Marlins

On July 2nd, Justin Bour suffered a sprained right ankle that cost him 65 calendar days. Just a week and a half earlier, he had homered in three consecutive games, tallying up five homers in a span of nine games. That got Bour to 15 home runs and .268 average through 68 games. He returned in September, but Bour didn’t homer in 22 games the rest of the way.

Fantasy managers competing in leagues with daily transactions can squeeze a little more value out of Bour by playing him solely against right-handed starters. That’s because the next time Bour homers against a fellow lefty it will the first such homer of his career. Even as the strong side of a platoon, Bour can sequence himself into a lot of RBI situations. He figures to once again man the fifth or sixth spot in a sound Miami Marlins lineup that will hopefully see full seasons from Dee Gordon and Giancarlo Stanton.

NFBC drafters have been taking Bour after pick 300 as the 21st first baseman. The FantasyPros rankers are making Bour even closer to free, putting him outside the top 30 first basemen.
