Santa Anita Horse Racing Picks for Sunday 5/29/22

There are 9 races Sunday at Santa Anita including three graded stakes. Which horses should you bet on at FanDuel Racing?

Starting at 4:00 p.m. EST, we have 9 races at Santa Anita Park. Using numberFire’s projections as a guide, here are some of the best bets to make at FanDuel Racing.

As always, check the program for scratches and changes, and monitor the weather and track conditions.

(I will reference Equibase's Speed Figure in selected races, which tells you how fast a horse has been running in each of its races -- adjusted for track, distances, and conditions).

Brickyard Ride, Race 4

FanDuel Racing Odds: 4/5

Race 4 is the $200K Triple Bend Stakes for older horses at 7 furlongs. The favorite Brickyard Ride (4/5) is the top pick of numberFire, and another top favorite winner like Saturday’s card.

Brickyard Road has 9 wins in 12 starts at Santa Anita. He’s the speed of the field with the meet's leading jockey JJ Hernandez riding. He likely goes wire-to-wire again for his eighth stakes win at “The Great Race Place.”

Cairo Memories, Race 7

FanDuel Racing Odds: 6/5

Race 7 is the $100K Honeymoon Stakes for 3-year-old fillies at 1 1/8 miles on the turf. Recent stakes winners Cairo Memories (6/5) and Island of Love (5/2) hookup and the numberFire projection along with Guaranteed Tip Sheet believes Cairo Memories is the best horse in the field.

Cairo Memories is undefeated in a pair of starts at Santa Anita and 3-for-4 in turf races. She has tactical speed and can rally from behind. Island of Love (IRE) is improving and off a graded stakes win and makes her second U.S. start.

Ever Smart and Miss Mattie B, Race 9

FanDuel Racing Odds: 7/2 and 4/1

Race 9 is an Allowance race for fillies and mares at 1-mile on the turf. The numberFire projected order of finish is Miss Mattie B (4/1), Ever Smart (7/2), Dramatizer (12/1).

Miss Mattie B has raced three times in 2022, and all graded stakes. She drops in class with her best finish third in the Santa Ynez in January. Regular rider Mike Smith tries to bring her from off the pace to win.

Ever Smart is off back-to-back in-the-money finishes including last out, and the winner came back to win again.

Heathers Grey (4/1) may go to the lead and not be caught. She’s won this condition race previously.
