Santa Anita Horse Racing Picks for Saturday 5/28/22

Starting at 4:00 p.m. EST, we have 9 races at Santa Anita Park. Using numberFire’s projections as a guide, here are some of the best bets to make at FanDuel Racing.
As always, check the program for scratches and changes, and monitor the weather and track conditions.
(I will reference Equibase's Speed Figure in selected races, which tells you how fast a horse has been running in each of its races -- adjusted for track, distances, and conditions).
Tigre Di Slugo and Fashionably Fast, Race 4
FanDuel Racing Odds: 8/5 and 5/2

Race 4 is the $100K Thor’s Echo Stakes for state-breds sprinting 6 furlongs. Just five runners, and the numberFire data projects the favorite Tigre Di Slugo (8/5) to win ahead of Fashionable Fast (5/2).
Little payout potential, and a straight exacta is the way horse players will bet this race. ‘Tigre’ finished runner-up in a Grade 3 race, and the lightly-raced 7-year-old has 3-wins in seven career starts. He’s the fastest horse in the short field, and his closing style gets him to the finish line first.
Fashionable Fast returns to preferred dirt with bullet works in place. Good With People (5/2) will be the front runner into the far turn.
Rose Maddox and Big Switch, Race 8
FanDuel Racing Odds: 9/5 and 8/5

Race 8 is the $150K Melair Stakes for 3-year-old fillies at 1 1/16 miles. The numberFire algorithm projects the favorites Big Switch (8/5) and Rose Maddox (9/5) to decide the race.
More small payoffs and short field with exacta box betting. Rose Maddox missed as the favorite in her last race as runner-up two weeks ago, but she’s proven around two turns. She’s a late-running gray who will try to hold off Big Switch returning to dirt and running long for the first time.
Alice Marble, Race 9
FanDuel Racing Odds: 4/5

Race 9 is the $100K Fran Valentine Stakes for state-breds going 1-mile on the turf. The numberFire projected order of finish is Alice Marble (4/5), Pulpit Rider (4/1) and Super Game (15/1).
Alice Marble tries two turns for the first time, but she looks like the most probable winner on the card. She’s undefeated in three starts on a fast track, according to Guaranteed Tip Sheet, and also finished runner-up in a Grade 2 turf sprint last month. Lots of chalk favorites in the stakes projections Saturday at Santa Anita.
