Santa Anita Horse Racing Picks for Sunday 5/22/22

There are 9 races at Santa Anita Sunday. Which horses should you bet on at FanDuel Racing?

Starting at 4:00 p.m. EST, we have 9 races Sunday at Santa Anita Park. Using numberFire’s projections as a guide, here are some of the best bets to make at FanDuel Racing.

As always, check the program for scratches and changes, and monitor the weather and track conditions.

(I will reference Equibase's Speed Figure in selected races, which tells you how fast a horse has been running in each of its races -- adjusted for track, distances, and conditions).

Flame Rider and Tahoma, Race 2

FanDuel Racing Odds: 3/1 and 5/2

Race 2 is for baby 2-year-old Maidens sprinting 4.5 furlongs. Tough to figure these young runners debuting and learning their way. But numberFire projects the favorite, Tahoma (5/2) to win ahead of Sharp Aza Tack (4/1) and MCrowning Gold (5/1).

Tahoma is first runner by first-crop sire and Triple Crown winner Justify. The dam of Tahoma produced a pair of first time winners.

Flame Rider (3/1) also deserves attention working a sharp half mile from the gate the past week.

Cash Equity and Red King, Race 7

FanDuel Racing Odds: 8/5 and 5/2

Race 7 is an Allowance race at 1 ¼ miles on the downhill turf. The numberFire data order of finish shows Red King (5/2) to outduel the favorite, Cash Equity (8/5).

Cash Equity finished second in his U.S. debut and stretches out to a preferred distance which he’s won twice in Europe.

Red King has the highest speed figures in the field and won at this level recent. Tie those two into an exacta box.

Dancing Soul and Magic Game, Race 9

FanDuel Racing Odds: 3/1 and 5/2

Race 9 is a Maiden Special Weight for state-bred fillies and mares sprinting 6 furlongs on the turf. The numberFire algorithm likes the favorite, Magic Game (5/2) to hold off Truly a Mess (6/1).

Magic Game breaks from the outside 10 post in her second start after a runner-up finish as a longshot behind the favorite last month.

Dancing Soul (3/1) is one to add to win wagers and exacta/trifecta betting. She ran super in her runner-up debut on synthetic at Golden Gate despite getting squeezed at the start and making a four-wide move to rally.
