Santa Anita Horse Racing Picks for Saturday 5/14/22

Starting at 4:00 p.m. EST, we have 9 races at Santa Anita Park. Using numberFire’s projections as a guide, here are some of the best bets to make at FanDuel Racing.
As always, check the program for scratches and changes, and monitor the weather and track conditions.
(I will reference Equibase's Speed Figure in selected races, which tells you how fast a horse has been running in each of its races -- adjusted for track, distances, and conditions).
Sword Zorro and Irideo, Race 1
FanDuel Racing Odds: 7/2 and 12/1

The day begins at ‘The Great Race Place’ with a 1-mile Allowance race on the turf. The numberFire data projects longshot Irideo (12/1) to win ahead of Sword Zorro (7/2) and the slight favorite Moody Jim (3/1).
Irideo (ARG) has 4 wins in 7 starts including in Group races, but ran poorly in his U.S. debut here last month.
Sword Zorro IRE) missed the money last race but was beaten by just 2 ¼ lengths. He showed lots of talent last spring and summer including a win and place in stakes races.
Moody Jim ran longer in his return last race but couldn’t sustain his run to finish fourth. He cuts back in distance and is back on schedule.
Queen Goddess and Neige Blanch, Race 5
FanDuel Racing Odds: 4/5 and 9/5

Race 5 is a $125K Santa Barbara Stakes for fillies and mares going 1 1/2 miles on the downhill turf. The numberFire data projects the favorite Queen Goddess (4/5) to edge main contender Neige Blanche (9/5) and Carpe Vinum (7/2).
Queen Goddess has 3 wins and a second and third in six starts on grass, per Guaranteed Tip Sheet. She tries 12 furlongs (1 1/2 miles) for the first time but is bread for distance running and has proven speed.
Neige Blanceh is undefeated in two starts at the distance, but finished third behind Queen Goddess in the 10 furlong Santa Ana in January.
Go Joe Won and One More Bid, Race 8
FanDuel Racing Odds: 5/2 and 2/1

Race 8 is a Maiden Special Weight at 1 mile. The numberFire algorithm projects Go Joe Won (5/2) to hold off the slight favorite One More Bid (2/1).
Go Joe Won is the one to catch off a sharp second finish here last month in his first route try. He’s shown speed and will have to hold off the favorite One More Bid, who ran into a top runner in his dirt sprint debut here in early March. He ran well in his first distance start three weeks later to finish second. One More Bid is a son of the great California Chrome.
