Belmont Horse Racing Picks for Saturday 5/14/22

There are 11 races at Belmont Saturday, including five graded stakes and the $700K Man o’ War. Which horses should you bet on at FanDuel Racing?

Starting at 1:00 p.m. EST, we have 11 races at Belmont Park. Using numberFire’s projections as a guide, here are some of the best bets to make at FanDuel Racing.

As always, check the program for scratches and changes, and check the weather and track conditions.

(I will reference Equibase's Speed Figure in selected races, which tells you how fast a horse has been running in each of its races -- adjusted for track, distances, and conditions).

Bella Sofia, Race 3

Race 3 is a $150K Vagrancy Handicap for older fillies and mares going 6 ½ furlongs. Just five runners and the numberFire data picks the fine filly Bella Sofia (4/5) to win ahead of Kept Waiting (5/1) and Frank’s Rockette (3/1).

Bella Sofia has three wins and a second in four starts at Belmont as she returns to the track with multiple bullet works in place for her 2022 debut.. Frank’s Rockettte ran some of her fastest fractions in her last race, according to Guaranteed Tip Sheet.

Highland Chief and Gufo, Race 8

FanDuel Racing Odds: 20/1 and 7/5

Race 8 is the $700,000 Man o’ War for older horses going 1 3/16 miles on the Inner Turf. Just six runners and the numberFire algorithm projects the longshot Highland Chief (20/1) to pull the upset over the favorites Gufo (7/5) and Yibir (1/1).

Guaranteed Tip Sheet notes Gufo has six triple-digit speed numbers in his last seven starts, and the rest of the field has three combined. Top jockey Joel Rosario rides Gufo, and he has just 1 win in 17 starts during the current Belmont Spring Meet

Yibir (GB) is undefeated in two U.S. races, while Highland Chief (IRE) makes his second start off a layoff and has a shot based on past form ratings and competition.

We the People and Golden Glider, Race 9

FanDuel Racing Odds: 3/1 and 5/1

Race 9 is the $200K Peter Pan for 3-year-olds at 1 1/8 miles. The top pick accoring to numberFire’s data is Golden Glider (4/1) on top of We the People (3/1) and Cooke Creek (15/1).

Golden Glider has high 90s speed figures in two recent starts facing tougher runners along the Derby trail.

We the People has won 2-of-3 starts but missed the board in his stakes debut at the Arkansas Derby with top jockey Flavien Prat back on board.
