Trained by Kenny McPeek and ridden by jockey B.J. Henderson, Jr, Tiz the Bomb was installed at 30/1 on the morning line odds breaking from post No. 9 just inside the Derby ML favorites Zandon.

Tiz the Bomb has won 5-of-8 starts including 2-of-3 this year after winning the Jeff Ruby Stakes on the synthetic surface at Turfway Park last race. Tiz the Bomb is one of the better big longshots who is capable of out-running his pari-mutuel odds and completing the superfecta with his best run.

Tiz the Bomb did post a 101 BRIS Speed Rating in one of his races, but that was on turf, which is his best surface. He'll need to improve his speed and performance on dirt, and his best Beyer Speed Figure is 93.

History shows that 27 of the last 30 Kentucky Derby winners (90.0%) have entered the race with a career-best Beyer Speed Figure of at least 95. And 18 of the past 22 Kentucky Derby winners (81.8%) had a BRIS Speed Rating of at least 100 prior to the race.
