Santa Anita Horse Racing Picks for Saturday 4/30/22

There are 12 races Saturday at Santa Anita including four graded stakes. Which horses should you bet on at FanDuel Racing?

Starting at 4:00 p.m. EST, we have 12 races at Santa Anita. Using numberFire’s projections as a guide, here are some of the best bets on FanDuel Racing.

As always, check the program for racing information and scratches and changes. Also, watch the weather and track conditions.

(I will reference Equibase's Speed Figure in selected races, which tells you how fast a horse has been running in each of its races -- adjusted for track, distances, and conditions).

Brickyard Ride, Race 4

FanDuel Racing Odds: 6/5

Race 3 is the Kona Gold Stakes at 6.5 furlongs. The Grade 3 race drew just 5 entries, and the numberFire alrorithym picks Miles Ahead (8/5) to outduel Brickyard Ride (6/5) and Strike That (4/1).

Brickyard Ride is the lone speed and a 3-time stakes winner this meet vs Cal-breds. No value but the likely winner with 38% win probability according to FanDuel Racing. Miles Ahead is a talented graded stakes winner making his West coast debut. Strike That makes his graded stakes debut after missing the board in his first race back off a 14 month layoff three weeks ago.

Miss Bigly, Race 10

FanDuel Racing Odds: 5/2

Race 10 is the $200K Santa Margarita Stakes for older horses at 1 1/8 miles. The numberFire data projects the favorite Miss Bigly (5/2) to win the Grade 2 race ahead of Blue Stripe (6/1) and Park Avenue (7/2) hitting the board.

Miss Bigly is the class of the field and has finished in-the-money in 10 straight races including runner-up in a Grade 1 race last time out. She’s consistent, durable and the logical choice settling in from the outside over late-developing filly Park Avenue, who has improved in each recent race including a win last out at this distance. A likely pace-pressing trip along the front end.

Beyond Brilliant and Masterofhounds, Race 11

FanDuel Racing Odds: 9/5 and 2/1

Race 11 is the $200K Charles Whittingham State at 1 ¼ miles on the downhill turf. The race drew 7 runners, and the two favorites break from the outside with the numberFire data showing Beyond Brilliant (9/5) the winner ahead of Dicey Mo Chara (4/1) and Masteroffoxhounds (2/1).

Beyond Brilliant finished 4th last race in a Grade 1 turf mile, and tries the classic distance for the first time. He won an age-restricted G1 last year at 1 /8 miles in wire-to-wire fashion

Masterofhounds can improve his speed off a 2nd place finish in his second start off a layoff. He’ll get first run at the favorite at his preferred distance with leading jockey JJ Hernandez riding for EPO trainer Richard Baltas.
