#3 Malintent – Oaklawn R9 (6:10 PM ET)

Race 9 is a Maiden Special Weight at 6 furlongs, and Top Race Reports provides their Maiden Handicapping Report for FanDuel Racing. Malintent (6/1) made his debut just 10 days ago, meaning, that debut essentially was little more than a work under race conditions. He returned to the barn, ate up well (huge indication as to how much a race took out of a horse), and in the next 48 hours, obviously showed little effects of the race, meaning, not sore, few nicks or cuts, eating well, and at that point, a trainer can say, “let’s work again in 10 days,” or, replace that work with another race. Malinent super 'green' in finding his way first time out, but he got his mind on running between the 3⁄8 and 1⁄4 pole, making up ground, coming home in :25 flat, galloping out well, and here we are, back quickly. Expecting he’ll move forward today off the quick turnaround, adding blinkers.

#4 More Than Hamazing - Oaklawn R9 (6:10 PM ET)

More Than Hamazing (12/1) is really interesting also in Race 9 at longer morning line odds. The dam, hadn’t produced a baby since 2009. Nine years later in 2018, this foal came along. Were there issues producing? Or did the connections simply not pursue, and all of sudden years later, boom, another baby? This runner is also 4 now, but that’s okay, telling us the horse from a physical standpoint, was worthy of showing patience, waiting for a debut, even gelding him leading up to this debut. The drills have been slow, but then, the latest work, super nice, with those initial works likely working on relaxing before finishing, and the recent sharp work getting him on edge. Jon Court rides, so good at settling his mounts, one of our favorites with young runners, and it’ll be interesting to see how this guy comes out in his first try, worthy of the risk-reward. #6 Newpark - Santa Anita R3 (5:06 PM ET)

Race 3 is a Starter Optional Claimer at 6 furlongs on the Turf, and handicapper Brad Free makes Newport (9/5) a top play on the card for FanDuel Racing. Newpark can set the pace and be long gone in this turf sprint. He has been dueling and fading against better rivals at six and one-half furlongs, and now he gets a shorter trip, against lesser rivals that do not have his speed. The two most-recent six-furlong turf sprints with the rails at this 20-foot setting were won by the pacesetter. Newpark hit a 100 speed figure in a recent turf sprint here and should hold off all rivals this time. Bet Now at TVG | Bet Now at FanDuel
