​Gulfstream Park Horse Racing Picks for Friday 4/1/22

Starting at 1:05 p.m. EST, we have nine races at Gulfstream Park. Using numberFire’s projections as a guide, here are some of the best bets on FanDuel Racing.

Sonic Kitten and Poetic Code, Race 1

FanDuel Racing Odds: 2/1 and 5/2

With rain in the forecast by 3:00 p.m., let’s hit some early races. Race 1 is a Maiden Claimer at 1 mile and 70 yards for three-year-olds on the all-weather track. numberFire's data projects favorites Poetic Code (5/2) and Sonic Kitten (2/1) to decide the race with Stolen Money (7/2) given a chance to do just that as a win challenger.

Top jockeys Jose Ortiz on the rail and Irad Ortiz, Jr. on the outside No. 8 post ride the two favorites. Poetic Code has finished in the money in four straight races despite not getting a win at Gulfstream since January. That includes an outing just 10 days ago as the favorite, when Stolen Money finished third.

Sonic Kitten is a son of Kitten’s Joy and makes just his third start after finishing runner-up with a 77 speed figure three weeks ago – slightly better than Poetic Code.

Lefthooklightsout and Kick in the Gas, Race 3

FanDuel Racing Odds: 5/2 and 20/1

Race 3 is a cheap Claiming race at 7 furlongs. The numberFire algorithm projects Lord Darnley (9/2) to win and hold off the favorite, Lefthooklightsout (5/2), who won his last start in December and makes just his third career start at age four.

Lord Darnley has one win in 20 starts and finished a well-beaten second over this track three weeks ago.

Longshot Kick in the Gas (20/1) won here with a 90 speed figure last summer but has failed to hit the board in four starts since.

Royal Kitten (3/1) -- with Irad Ortiz, Jr. riding -- is one to include in exacta and trifecta wagering and is listed as a best bet by Guaranteed Tip Sheet.

Embrace My Uncle and Financial System, Race 5

FanDuel Racing Odds: 2/1 and 8/5

Race 5 is for older horses and is going 1 mile. According to numberFire's projections, the race is likely decided by favorites Financial System (8/5) -- with Jose Ortiz riding -- and Embrace My Uncle (2/1).

Guaranteed Tip Sheet makes Embrace My Uncle a best bet. He won in January with a 102 speed figure and has two runner-up finishes since.

Financial System won by nearly 8 lengths when racing this distance last time out in February.
