Gulfstream Park Horse Racing Picks for Saturday 2/5/22

Starting at 12:00 p.m. EST, we have 12 races at Gulfstream Park. Using numberFire’s projections as a guide, here are some of the best bets to make at FanDuel Racing.

As always, check for scratches and changes and monitor the weather and track conditions.

(I will reference Equibase's Speed Figure in selected races, which tells you how fast a horse has been running in each of its races -- adjusted for track, distances, and conditions.)

Speaking Scout and Red Danger, Race 7

FanDuel Racing Odds: 4/1 and 7/2

Race 5 is the $100K Kitten's Joy at 1 1/16 mlles on the turf. The Grade III race is for three-year-olds, and numberFire's data as well as Top Race Reports projects Speaking Scout (4/1) to win with excellent horseman Graham Motion training and adding blinkers and distance for his three-year-old debut. Speaking Scout has finished in the top two in four of five starts.

East Coast Handicapping Report and numberFire also give Red Danger (7/2) a solid shot to win. He’ll come from off the pace and has three turf wins already, including a minor-stakes victory last time out over this course. He recently posted a bullet workout and will also move forward with added distance.

Opalina and Nostalgic, Race 10

FanDuel Racing Odds: 3/1 and 9/2

Race 10 is the $100K Sweet Chant for three-year-old fillies going 1 1/16 miles on the turf. The numberFire data, Guaranteed Tip Sheet and Horse Racing Nation’s Super Screener pick favorite Opalina (3/1) to win with Gulfstream’s leading jockey Luis Saez riding. She’s hit the board in all four starts at Gulfstream, and Super Screener says she will press a sluggish pace of Myfavoritedaughter (20/1).

Ocean Safari (4/1) and Nostalgic (9/2) are threats and projected to hit the board by numberFire and Top Race Reports. Guaranteed Tip Sheet adds that Ocean Safari has finished within two lengths of the winner in four races.

Simplification and Mo Donegal, Race 11

FanDuel Racing Odds: 4/1 and 5/2

Race 11 is the $250K Holy Bull. The Grade III race is a prep race for the Florida Derby and carries Kentucky Derby points (10-4-2-1).

The race is ripe with competition, and we can take our pick between Horse Racing Nation's top picks Simplification (4/1), Cajun’s Magic (10/1) or Mo Donegal (5/2). The numberFire algorithm likes Giant Game (7/2) to emerge in front at the finish with Luis Saez riding.

Guaranteed Tip Sheet notes Simplification has two wins and a third-place finish on fast tracks. Cajun’s Magic makes his sixth start at Gulfstream and ran the highest last-race speed figure (95) when finishing second in a minor stakes. Mo Donegal is undefeated in three starts and improving each race. He won the Grade II Remsen Stakes last time out and has top jockey/trainer combo Irad Ortiz, Jr. and Todd Pletcher.
