Belmont Horse Racing Picks for Saturday 7/3/21

Belmont Park has 10 races Saturday, including the Suburban Stakes. Which horses should you be betting on at FanDuel Racing?

Starting at 1:00 p.m. EST, we have 10 races at Belmont Park. Using numberFire’s projections as a guide, here are some of the best bets to make at FanDuel Racing.

As always, check for scratches and changes and monitor the weather and track conditions.

(I will reference Equibase's Speed Figure in selected races, which tells you how fast a horse has been running in each of its races -- adjusted for track, distances, and conditions.)

Founder and Space Launch, Race 8

FanDuel Racing Odds: 8/1 and 5/2

Race 8 is an Allowance race for three-year-olds going 1 1/16 miles on the inner turf. numberFire's algorithm projects Founder (8/1) to win. He's improving, running his fastest race last month with a 92 speed figure when finishing sixth from the back of the pack. Leading jockey Jose Ortiz rides for EPO trainer Chad Brown, who also enters Sifting Sands (8/1) with top jockey Irad Ortiz, Jr. aboard. Those two jockeys and brothers have 53 wins each at the meet to lead all riders.

Space Launch (5/2) is a lightly raced son of Bernardini who finished third in his 2021 debut in May. Top trainer Christophe Clement has him moving forward, and strong stretch rider Joel Rosario can get him home again to hit the board or win.

Viadera, Race 9

FanDuel Racing Odds: 4/5

Race 9 is the Perfect Sting Stakes for older fillies and mares racing 1 mile on the turf. The numberFire data projects the favorite, Viadera (4/5), to win followed by Velvet Crush (5/2). Three horses are scratched (Nos. 3, 6, and 7).

Viadera won three in a row before taking a break in November. This is her 2021 debut against a softer field than she's faced in four U.S. starts, according to Guaranteed Tip Sheet. Viadera won the Grade 3 Noble Damsel Stakes over this track last September.

Velvet Crush is sired by Tapit, and her speed figures don't come close to the top pick. She missed the board in two grade stakes starts last summer. Honey Cake (4/1) breaks from the rail and makes her U.S. debut after winning 4-of-8 starts in France, per Horse Racing Radar.

Happy Saver and Moretti, Race 10

FanDuel Racing Odds: 6/5 and 10/1

Race 10 is the featured Suburban Stakes for older horses racing the classic 1 1/4 miles. numberFire's model picks Happy Saver (6/5) to outduel Mystic Guide (1/1). Guaranteed Tip Sheet adds that Happy Saver is 3-for-3 at Belmont, including a win last time out at this distance off a long layoff. The son of Super Saver has won all five career starts, including the Grade I Jockey Club Gold Cup last fall.

Mystic Guide is coming back from Saudi Arabia, where he won the Grade I Dubai World Cup in March. He's won three of his last five and hit the board in the two others. Moretti (10/1) is a well-bred longshot to include in his second start off a layoff. He ran a nice third last race and finished second in this Suburban last year. Leading jockey Flavien Prat rides for EPO trainer Todd Pletcher.
