Monmouth Park Horse Racing Picks for Friday 6/25/21

Starting at 5:00 p.m. EST, we have six races at Monmouth Park. Using numberFire’s projections as a guide, here are some of the best bets to make at FanDuel Racing.

As always, check for scratches and changes and monitor the weather and track conditions'.

(I will reference Equibase's Speed Figure in selected races, which tells you how fast a horse has been running in each of its races -- adjusted for track, distances, and conditions.)

Gone Dreaming and Pray For Rain, Race 4

FanDuel Racing Odds: 5/2 and 4/1

Race 4 is a low-end Maiden Claiming race for fillies and mares sprinting 6 furlongs. numberFire's data projects the outside filly, Gone Dreaming (5/2), to outduel favorite Chispita (2/1) with longshot Billysbirthdaygirl (12/1) to also hit the board in the seven-horse field.

Chispita was a non-factor last race in May and has a pair of third-place finishes in four starts this year.

Gone Dreaming ran her fastest race in eight tries at the end of May, when finishing second with blinkers off. She finished ahead of Pray For Rain (4/1), who broke slowly but made a solid wide middle move and should move forward in her second start off a layoff.

Miss Auramet and Caravel, Race 5

FanDuel Racing Odds: 4/1 and 5/2

Race 5 is the Goldwood Stakes for fillies and mares sprinting 5 furlongs on the turf. This is a rematch between three runners who finished within noses of each other in a May 14 stakes race at Pimlico -- Caravel (5/2), Gotta Go Mo (3/1) and Victory Kingdom (7/2) were all part of the photo finish.

The numberFire algorithm projects the order of finish as Victory Kingdom, Gotta Go Mo and Song River (15/1), who has since been scratched.

Horse Racing Radar (HRR) notes that Caravel has five wins in seven starts and is 3-for-3 in turf sprints. HRR adds that Victory Kingdom switches to a more aggressive rider and the meet's leading jockey in 57-year-old Jose Ferrer. Her close finish last race was her first race of the year.

Gotta Go Mo had won three straight races before finishing second by a nose last race, and she runs at Monmouth for the first time.

Monmouth-based filly Miss Auramet (4/1) is also one to include in win wagers and exacta and trifecta bets. She's a best bet of Guaranteed Tip Sheet and has a pair of wins this year with triple-digit speed figures, including last time out the end of May at Monmouth.

Pogi and Steel Pier, Race 6

FanDuel Racing Odds: 3/2 and 5/1

Race 6 is a Maiden Special Weight for state-bred runners sprinting 6 furlongs. Heavy favorite Pogi (3/2) is the top pick, according to numberFire’s data. In five starts, the Monmouth-based three-year-old has finished third three times and has a pair of runner-up finishes with her fastest race last time out with an 82 speed figure. She raced on the lead as the favorite before getting caught in the shadow of the wire.

Well-bred first-time starters Leo Monte (6/1) and Steel Pier (5/1) both race with first-time Lasix, and Steel Pier has three bullet works preparing for his debut.
