Laurel Park Horse Racing Picks for Saturday 2/20/21

It's a great time to dive into horse racing, and FanDuel Racing gives you the chance to do just that.

Starting at 12:25 p.m. EST, we have 9 races at Laurel Park. Using numberFire’s projections as a guide, here are some of the best bets.

As always, check the program for scratches and changes, and check the weather and track conditions.

(I will reference Equibase's Speed Figure in selected races, which tells you how fast a horse has been running in each of its races -- adjusted for track, distances, and conditions.)

Fraudulent Charge and Street Lute, Race 6

FanDuel Racing Odds: 6/1 and 2/1

Race 6 is the $100K Wide Country Stakes for three-year-old fillies, and it's going 7 furlongs. The top pick according to numberFire’s data is Fraudulent Charge (6/1). Favorite Street Lute (2/1) is projected to hit the board by numberFire and is also the top pick of Guaranteed Tip Sheet. Those two hooked up in a stakes race in late December, and Street Lute held on by a nose after a late run by Fraudulent Charge.

Little Huntress (3/1) is a main challenger in her stakes debut with leading jockey Sheldon Russell riding. Russell also leads all jockeys at the meet with three stakes wins in five starts. Daily Horse Picks rates Street Lute the top class and speed in the race. Jockey Xavier Perez has a won 24% of his starts. Horse Racing Radar notes that Street Lute has won 6-of-7 starts, including four stakes in a row at Laurel Park, and can withstand the speed in the race.

Hello Beautiful, Race 7

FanDuel Racing Odds: 8/5

Race 7 is the $250K Grade III Barbara Fritchie for for older fillies and mares racing 7 furlongs. Eight are entered with favorite Hello Beautiful (8/5) breaking from the outside post with Sheldon Russell riding for his wife and trainer Brittany. Hello Beautiful is the projected winner of numberFire followed by Dontletsweetfoolya (7/2).

Hello Beautiful has won 7-of-13 starts, and Horse Racing Radar notes she’s 7-for-7 at Laurel Park, including three straight with greater than 100 speed figures. Dontletsweetfoolya has won five in a row and all by daylight. Her late pace figure makes her a threat with average speed figure at this distance of 105.

Laki, Race 8

FanDuel Racing Odds: 9/2

Race 6 is the $250K Grade III General George for older horses racing 7 furlongs. You can watch all races, including this featured race, on TVG. The top pick according to numberFire's algorithm is Share the Ride (3/1) followed by Laki (9/2).

Share the Ride hit a 113 speed figure over this track last month when just missing by a neck to finish second in a 6-furlong race. Laki has finished in the money in 18-of-21 starts, according to Horse Racing Radar. However, she finished fourth in her last two starts as the favorite in each, but she clipped heels early to get her off stride.

Funny Guy (3/1) showed some improvement in his early fractions last race and can move forward. Lebda (8/1) finished third last race in front of Laki, and 2 lengths behind runner-up Share the Ride.
