Gulfstream Park West Horse Racing Picks for Wednesday 11/4/20

There are eight races at Gulfstream Park West Wednesday as act 2 of the 40-day session begins. Which horses should you bet on at FanDuel Racing?

It's a great time to dive into horse racing, and FanDuel Racing gives you the chance to do just that.

Starting at 12:05 p.m. EST, we have eight races at Gulfstream Park West. Using numberFire’s projections as a guide, here are some of the best bets.

As always, check the program for scratches and changes, and check the weather and track conditions.

(I will reference Equibase's Speed Figure in selected races, which tells you how fast a horse has been running in each of its races -- adjusted for track, distances, and conditions.)

Miles Ahead, Race 3

FanDuel Racing Odds: 2/1

Race 3 is a Starter Optional Claimer at 6.5 furlongs. The top pick according to numberFire’s data is the favorite Miles Ahead (2/1) followed by All Around (3/1).

Miles Apart has won 4-of-6 starts this year and is razor sharp for trainer Eddie Plesa, Jr. He beat better runners last month as the favorite with a 99 speed figure. Two races back, he won by more than 7 lengths with a 114 speed figure. Miles Apart is versatile and facing a better group today, but he’ll track the leaders and inside runners Examiner (10/1) and Rough Entry (15/1) early before making his move.

All Around has been just as good in recent races with two straight wins and a best 105 speed figure. He’s a one-run closer, but that style has not been conducive to winning at this meet.

Under the Couvers and Exponential, Race 6

FanDuel Racing Odds: 7/2 and 6/1

Race 6 is a Maiden Claiming race for 2-year-olds at 7 furlongs on the Turf. Two picks expected to hit the board according to numberFire’s algorithm are projected winner Exponential (6/1) and El Afortunado (10/1).

Exponential made a good rally in a large field to finish third last month and has been working fine in the morning since. El Afortunado finished third with a slower speed figure but was 12-lengths behind the winner in his last race three weeks ago.

Under the Couvers (7/2) has a very sold work tab for EPO trainer Saffie Joseph, Jr., and expect him to hit the board after stumbling at the start in his debut three weeks ago and missing the money. Ghostlyprince (8/1) has had wide post positions in his two starts and can break better from the inside and get towards the front with improvement expected.

Bella Ciao , Race 7

FanDuel Racing Odds: 3/1

Race 7 is the featured Allowance Optional Claimer for fillies and mares at 1 mile. Bajan Girl (5/2) is the favorite and a filly on the rise. She was very impressive in winning a first level Allowance race here a month ago off a five-month layoff and posted a 102 speed figure in her 12-length victory.

But numberFire’s data is not as high on Bajan Girl and projects Remarkable Soul (7/2) to win and Alizee (5/1) and Bello Ciao (3/1) to finish in-the-money.

Bella Ciao could be the early leader, and she has been racing strongly recently with three straight in-the-money finishes while recording sharp speed figures in the mid-90’s.

Remarkable Soul has not reached a 90 speed figure in five starts this year but did win her last race in September going wire-to-wire with slower fractions.
