Keeneland Horse Racing Picks for Saturday 10/17/20

It's a great time to dive into horse racing, and FanDuel Racing gives you the chance to do just that.

Starting at 1:05 p.m. EST, we have 10 races at Keeneland. Using numberFire’s projections and Daily Horse Picks as a guide, here are some of the best bets.

As always, check the program for scratches and changes, and monitor the weather and track conditions.

(I will reference Equibase's Speed Figure in selected races, which tells you how fast a horse has been running in each of its races -- adjusted for track, distances, and conditions.)

Wicked Bisou, Race 7

FanDuel Racing Odds: 4/1

Race 7 is a Maiden Special Weight for 2-year-old fillies going 7 furlongs. It's a competitive group of 12 runners, and there are high expectations for the debut of Wicked Bisou (4/1), the projected winner for both numberFire and Guaranteed Tip Sheet. Horse Racing Radar notes Wicked Bisou is the half-sister of Midnight Bisou, a four-time Grade 1 winner who has won 13 races with six runner-up finishes in 22 starts.

Miss Dial (6/1) was a high-end purchase for $310K while Willful Woman (6/1) was a $400K purchase and is by a leading first crop stallion, Nyquist.

Corelli, Race 8

FanDuel Racing Odds: 5/1

Race 8 is an Allowance race at 1 1/8 miles on the Turf. EPO trainer Mike Maker has two runners in Temple (8/1) and Apreciado (12/1). Both numberFire and Guaranteed Tip Sheet like Corelli (5/1) to win. Horse Racing Radar notes Corelli made his U.S. debut this summer and in his second start finished in-the-money in a Grade 1 race while posting a 110 speed figure. He finished in front of strong favorite Arklow.

Don’t Blame Rocket (2/1) is the favorite with top class, but he’s missed the money in three straight starts. Daily Horse Picks projects Hierarchy (10/1) to win and edge out Corelli. Midnight Tea Time (7/2) has run big races at this level the last two races when finishing second, and he fits in here.

Venetian Harbor, Race 9

FanDuel Racing Odds: 7/5

Race 9 is the featured $200K Grade II Lexus Raven Run Stakes for 3-year-old fillies going 7 furlongs. Daily Horse Picks likes an upset with its algorithm projecting Secondary Market (12/1) to win followed by Grand Cru Classe (12/1). and Ceci (9/2) to hit the board.

The handicapping team at Horse Racing Radar likes favorite Venetian Harbor (7/5). She’s won twice with four runner-up finishes in six starts, and they note she ran blistering fractions in May before getting caught by Swiss Skydiver, who went on to beat the boys and win the Preakness Stakes. Venetian Harbor has run in four straight graded stakes, including two Grade 1s, in her most recent races.

Four Graces (5/2) is expected to duel with Venetian Harbor, and numberFire projects them to finish in the top two -- with Venetian Harbor the winner. Grand Cru Classe is undefeated in three starts but moves up to graded company and needs to show more speed.

Secret Keeper (12/1) pressed the pace and ran second in the Grade II Torrey Pines stakes at Del Mar in her last race. Horse Racing Radar notes she has been training fast and has better speed numbers but faces stronger runners in this race.
