HORSE RACING

Keeneland Horse Racing Picks for Wednesday 10/7/20

There are 8 races Wednesday at Keeneland. Which horses should you bet on at FanDuel Racing?

It's a great time to dive into horse racing, and FanDuel Racing gives you the chance to do just that.

Starting at 1:05 p.m. EST, we have 8 races at Keeneland. Using numberFire’s projections as a guide, here are some of the best bets.

As always, check the program for scratches and changes, and monitor the weather and track conditions.

(I will reference Equibase's Speed Figure in selected races, which tells you how fast a horse has been running in each of its races -- adjusted for track, distances, and conditions.)

Bourbon in May and Current, Race 3

FanDuel Racing Odds: 3/1 and 7/2

Race 3 is an Allowance race on the turf with 11 runners taking on the 1 1/2 mile distance. It's no surprise in these distance races to see a number of EPO trainers ready to give their horses a boost and the best chance to win. That includes Daily Horse Picks' (DHP) projected top finishers of Tide of the Sea (7/2) and Bourbon in May (3/1) for trainer Mike Maker.

Tide of the Sea is a front runner who has a win and two runner-up finishes this summer at three different tracks.

Bourbon in May is an off-the-pace runner who won his last race nearly a month ago at Kentucky Downs. He posted a stronger speed figure (96) than Tide of the Sea ran on the same track that day in a different race. Bourbon in May has won three straight races and ran even faster in a lesser claiming race when winning in July.

You can’t rule out numberFire’s projected winner Current (7/2) with EPO trainer Todd Pletcher. Current is 0-for-5 this year but has raced against stronger runners in graded stakes races and posted three triple-digit speed figures. Celerity (8/1) won impressively at this distance last month and posted a 103 speed figure over this track in July when finishing fourth.

Queen Nekia, Race 6

FanDuel Racing Odds: 1/1

Race 6 is a Single to add to your Super High Five bets as the heavy favorite Queen Nekia (1/1) looks tough from the rail with rider Tyler Gaffalione riding for EPT trainer Saffie Joseph. DHP, numberFire, and Guaranteed Tip Sheet project her to win this 7 furlong Allowance race for fillies and mares.

Queen Nekia is a 5-year-old mare who has won nine times, including her last race in August from off the pace at this distance. DHP rates her the best in class and the fastest runner in the race.

La Femme Royale (9/2) has not raced since January but has won three straight races. Honey Parade (7/2) had a front-running win last month with significant improvement in her second race off a long layoff.

Spanish Loveaffair, Race 7

FanDuel Racing Odds: 7/2

Race 7 is the $150K Grade 2 Jessamine Stakes for 2-year-old fillies going 1 1/16 miles on the turf. DHP projects a longshot to hit the board and perhaps upset and win, with Arm Candy (15/1) making her second start following a win at double-digit odds but a slower speed figure (73).

Guaranteed Tip Sheet likes Aunt Pearl (3/1) to battle Spanish Loveraffair (7/2) to win and notes she won her debut for EPO trainer Brad Cox. Spanish Loveraffair is 2-for-2 for trainer Mark Casse at Gulfstream, and numberFire believes she will move forward again and win after a pace-pressing win the end of August when posting a solid 85 speed figure. Guaranteed Tip Sheet has her as a win contender and notes her last race speed figure is fastest in this field.

Ingrassia (6/1) and Momentous Miss (20/1) both won their debut races. Ingrassia is from trainer Chad Brown’s barn and is well-regarded to move forward and run faster after winning by a nose at Saratoga in August.
