Indiana Grand Horse Racing Picks for Monday 8/24/20

There are 11 Thoroughbred races at Indiana Grand on Monday. Which horses should you bet at TVG?

It's a great time to dive into horse racing, and TVG gives you the chance to do just that.

Starting at 2:20 p.m. EST, we have 11 Thoroughbred races at Indiana Grand. Using numberFire's projections as a guide, here are some of the best bets.

As always, check the program for scratches and changes.

(I will reference Equibase's Speed Figure in selected races, which tells you how fast a horse has been running in each of its races -- adjusted for track, distances, and conditions.)

West Sider, Race 6

FanDuel Racing Odds: 7/2

Race 6 is an Allowance race at 1 1/16 miles and the start of the late Pick 4. The favorite is Uncle Kick (2/1) from the rail, with the meet's second-leading jockey Fernando De La Cruz riding. Uncle Kick galloped home an eight-length winner a month ago to break his maiden with a 96 speed figure. He now faces winners and won't have to worry about Prodigious Bay (5/2), who was scratched.

We’ll look towards the Guaranteed Tip Sheet (GTS) best-bet West Sider (7/2). West Sider finished second two weeks ago, just missing at the wire with a 92 speed figure against stronger claimers.

Longshot Wholelottachocolate (20/1) has the track's leading rider Deshawn Parker in the irons. He’s won 4-of-8 starts and fits here in his second race off a layoff last month.

Nutcracker Ballet, Race 7

FanDuel Racing Odds: 7/2

Race 7 is an Allowance race for state-bred fillies and mares going 1 1/16 miles on the Turf. There are a total of 12 runners in this competitive race, and the favorite is Blonde Moment (5/2), who we hope gets dizzy down the stretch -- she has just one win in 13 starts, and that win came more than a year ago. Blonde Moment is top class in this field, but we’ll look elsewhere at this price, with this being her first race since April.

The top pick at GTS is Nutcracker Ballet (7/2), who is in better form and stretching out from recent sprints. Nutcracker Ballett has projected better speed and ability to carry out her trainer's plan.

One for Richie and I’m for Corfu, Race 8

FanDuel Racing Odds: 10/1 and 4/1

Race 8 is an Allowance Optional Claimer with eight runners after Ikeisgreat (7/2) was scratched by his trainer. The favorite in this 6 furlong sprint is Boyfriend Material (5/2), followed by Lonely Private (7/2). Boyfriend Material is the top pick of Guaranteed Tip Sheet, and he’s finished first or second in 9-of-20 starts, including his fourth win in early July making his Indiana Grand debut. He runs back at the same level and distance, looking to repeat his press-and-pounce win.

One of the meet's leading trainers, Cipriano Contreras, has two runners in here -- I’m Corfu (4/1) and One for Richie (10/1). Contreras must like to race his horses, as I’m Corfu makes his tenth start this year. His current form is solid, and he’s finished in-the-money in six straight starts, including runner-up last month at this level with a 95 speed figure. One for Richie finished 2 ½ lengths further back in fourth in that same race. However, One for Richie hit 90’s speed figures in two previous races this year, with a win as the favorite at this level -- he will run up closer this time. Value on One for Richie and include in bets.
