HORSE RACING

Parx Racing Horse Racing Picks for Tuesday 7/21/20

With most of the sports world on pause, it's a great time to dive into horse racing, and FanDuel Racing gives you the chance to do just that.

Starting at 12:55 p.m. EST, we have 10 races at Parx Racing. Using our projections as a guide, here are some of the best bets.

As always, keep an eye out for scratches and changes.

(I will be referencing Equibase's speed figure, which tells you how fast a horse has been running in each of its races -- adjusted for track, distances, and conditions.)

Sail At Sunrise, Race 7 (3:37 PM)

FD Racing Odds: 7/2

Sail At Sunrise is the rightful favorite in Race 7, with easily the best speed figures of the field. The colt is coming off figures of 80 and 82 in his past two races, and none of the other competitors have hit the 80s in 2020. Toss in top jockey Mychel J. Sanchez, who is sporting a 20% win rate and 50% top-three rate this year, and it's tough to go against Sail At Sunrise. numberFire's algorithm agrees, picking him to take this one.

numberFire likes Baringer Spring (4/1) to finish runner-up. Baringer Spring has been below form this year but was consistently posting figures in the 80s at the end of 2019. For a longer shot, Manolito (8/1) could be worth a look after recording a career-best 77 speed figure at the end of June.

Luvinmeiseasy, Race 8 (4:04 PM)

FD Racing Odds: 9/5

Following morning scratches, there are only five competitors in this race, and Luvinmeiseasy is the clear leader in the clubhouse in terms of speed figures.

The gelding had a disappointing fifth-place finish five weeks back, but his 88 figure would still best this field on most days. Prior to that, he rattled off figures of 96, 108, 106, and 92 -- all in victories. If that wasn't enough, he gets his usual jockey in Frankie Pennington, who boasts a 22% win rate and 54% top-three rate in 2020. Not surprisingly, numberFire's model also sides with Luvinmeiseasy.

Based on past figures, O'kram (9/2) and Terry's Charm (7/2) are the most likely candidates to pull the upset, and numberFire has them finishing second and third in that order.

Zippy, Race 9 (4:31 PM)

FD Racing Odds: 4/1

Zippy was mediocre in a sixth-place appearance in June (83 speed figure), but before that, the gelding put up figures of 94, 96, 100, and 91 dating back to late March. The other top contenders have never hit triple-digit speed figures. Adding the aforementioned Mychel J. Sanchez as his rider only further boosts his appeal.

Seville Barber (5/2) is the odds favorite with Frankie Pennington on board and has consistently put up figures in the low 90s or mid-to-high 80s dating back to last year. Paul The Waiter (6/1) is numberFire's choice to win, coming off a career-best 95 speed figure earlier this month in a victory.
