Parx Racing Horse Racing Picks for Monday 7/13/20

There are 11 races at Parx Racing on Monday. Which horses should you bet on at FanDuel Racing?

With most of the sports world on pause, it's a great time to dive into horse racing, and FanDuel Racing gives you the chance to do just that.

Starting at 12:55 p.m. EST, we have 11 races at Parx. Using our numberFire projections as a guide, here are some of the best bets.

As always, check the program for scratches and changes, and monitor the weather and track conditions.

(I will reference Equibase's Speed Figure in selected races, which tells you how fast a horse has been running in each of its races -- adjusted for track, distances, and conditions).

Here Wego, Race 1

FanDuel Racing Odds: 7/2

The day begins with a 6-furlong Claiming race, and Kadens Courage (6/5) is the favorite of seven runners and the top choice at Daily Horse Picks (DHP). Just 1 win in 20 starts for Kadens Courage with his last victory in 2018. But DHP rates him as the class and speed in this field, and he’s dropping down from a $40k claimer last month at Belmont to this $12,500 tag today.

Here Wego (7/2) makes his 2020 debut and won here against better last November with an 85 speed figure (ESF). That ESF is much better than My Danzig Partner (9/2) has ever posted in 17 starts, but My Danzig has renewed confidence after winning his first race last month. He’ll press the pace with Here Wego.

Little Vinnie (5/1) has been off since February and hit the board just once in his last seven starts when he posted a 75 speed figure to finish third. He’ll be out front for a barn that has horses firing. Little Vinnie had a solid 4-furlong morning work late last week and is the second choice behind the favorite at numberFire.

Mess’n Around, Race 9

FanDuel Racing Odds: 5/2

Race 9 is a Starter Allowance race for fillies and mares sprinting 5.5 furlongs. Coupella (9/2) is the top pick at numberFire, followed by Mess'n Around (5/2).

Coupella is a 6-year-old mare who showed dominating speed off a layoff last month. She wired the field and won by more than six lengths with a 95 speed figure.

Mess’n Around goes for her 10th win in 23 starts off a layoff, having won in February with a 100 speed figure from off the pace. She also won last November from off the pace, finishing well in front of fading front-runner Altina Salsa (5/1). Mess’n Around is a locally stakes-placed mare proven to be ultra-consistent. Ideally placed in return by trainer Tim Kreiser. A pair of solid morning works, including a bullet-best of 34 late last week. Angel Rodriguez -- one of the leading riders at Parx -- is up.

The favorite Corn Off the Cob (9/5) has a pair of strong outings this summer at Parx, including a win last month against similar as the favorite. His 85 speed figure was followed by a career-best 88 ESF 12 days ago when finishing third.

High Rider, Race 11

FanDuel Racing Odds: 7/2

Race 11 concludes the day with another Starter Allowance and 5.5-furlong sprint. The favorite Tattered (5/2) breaks from the rail in an 11-horse field. We’ll fade him on top and note he’s hit the board in 17-of-22 starts with just two wins. Tattered had a good effort two weeks ago but tired down the stretch to finish second as the favorite.

We like High Rider (7/2) after he circled the field and pulled away to win at Delaware Park three weeks ago and posted his best speed figure (80) off a layoff. The contested pace should work to this Candy Ride colts advantage again.

FanDuel Racing’s implied odds suggest a 29% chance of winning by Tattered and 22% for High Rider.

The top pick at numberFire is Barcode (9/2) followed by Chrisatude (8/1). Barcode picked up his second win in 29 starts 12 days ago against a soft field. Chrisatude returns for his third race in 12 days, having won just five days ago with an 88 speed figure as part of the fast pace.
