Charles Town Horse Racing Picks for Thursday 7/9/20

Charles Town has nine races slated for tonight. Which horses should you bet on at FanDuel Racing?

With most of the sports world on pause, it's a great time to dive into horse racing, and FanDuel Racing gives you the chance to do just that.

Starting at 7:00 p.m. EST this evening, we have nine races at Charles Town. Using our projections as a guide, here's a look at some of the best bets.

As always, keep an eye out for scratches and changes.

(I will be referencing Equibase's Speed Figure, which tells you how fast a horse has been running in each of its races -- adjusted for track, distances, and conditions)

Twobitsaride, Race 1 (7:00 PM)

FD Racing Odds: 4/1

Twobitsaride is numberFire's top pick, and there's plenty to like. The gelding has had figures above 50 in two of his last three, including a victory at Charles Town in March. His jockey booking of Arnaldo Bocachica is a major plus.

Makana (3/1) is fresh off a win, where he posted an impressive figure of 70. He had a superb workout here in May on 3 Furlongs. Command the Cat (5/2) is the current betting favorite and numberFire's second-place pick. His mid-June effort saw him achieve a figure of 67. That'll play. Key West Kid (10/1) could surprise.

Battle Ready, Race 4 (8:25 PM)

FD Racing Odds: 4/1

The first Allowance event of the evening will feature a number of horses in top-notch form, though Battle Ready could stand above the rest. The gelding last raced in March, placing first with a speed figure of 80 at Laurel Park. His June outings at that track were phenomenal. The six-year-old will be ridden by J.D. Acosta, who's third in purse and has won 18% of his races here in 2020.

It's hard to ignore the success rate of Cavallotto (9/2). Prior to a three-month hiatus, the gelding had been victorious in four consecutive efforts. His last two at Charles Town saw him finish fifth and fourth, respectively, but he still managed an average figure of 80. Having Christian Hiraldo -- a 20% winner at this track this year -- as rider certainly doesn't hurt. Current betting favorite Moti (9/5) has posted figures of 86 and 84 in his two races since March. There's no doubting the capability. Charitable Spenny (10/1) has won two straight races and is a four-time winner at this track. His last first-place finish came less than a month ago among similar competition.

River Crosroad Rvf, Race 7 (9:49 PM)

FD Racing Odds: 5/2

In his second career race, I like River Crosroad Rvf to win this Maiden Special Weight. The gelding achieved a figure of 52 in his debut and has since had some fantastic workouts. Most importantly, he'll be ridden by Arnaldo Bocachica, who's first in purse by nearly half a million dollars to go with his 31% winning percentage.

Doctor McCoy (9/5) is fresh off a runner-up finish with a 65-figure just a month ago. As an added bonus, the three-year-old will have the aforementioned Christian Hiraldo in saddle. His outing five days ago was fantastic. J J Wedgit Man (6/1) has placed in consecutive races, with figures of 56 and 50 in those two, respectively. Astrani (12/1) could be thereabouts.

College Kid, Race 8 (10:17 PM)

FD Racing Odds: 3/1

College Kid is the current betting favorite and our model's runner-up pick. The filly has reached figures of 65 in two of her three career efforts, and her outings in June showed a horse in great form. By booking Hiraldo as jockey, College Kid is set up to be well in the mix.

Three Bops (6/1) has reached figures of 60-plus in four straight, with top-three finishes in three of them. Diamond Train (5/1) is fresh of a second-place finish with a figure of 67. Her form is where it should be. Q's Song (7/2) is numberFire's top pick. She has the ability, though her recent form is trending in the wrong direction. Distorted Splendor (8/1) could be in the mix as well.
