Gulfstream Park Horse Racing Picks for Friday 6/26/20

Cat Lady, Race 2

Cat Lady (2/1) is without a win over four career races, but it's not due to a lack of speed. The filly has posted speed figures of at least 88 in each of her last three outings, according to Equibase, peaking with a 90 speed rating in her last event.
DailyHorsePicks.com has Cat Lady ranked first in the field in speed rating and second in pace rating, and they have her winning a race-best 16% of the time. Jockey Victor Lebron has a 14% win rate at Gulfstream Park in 2020, and Cat Lady is also our pick to win.
Broadway Pete, Race 3
FD Racing Odds: 15/1
Broadway Pete (15/1) is a long shot worth looking at for Race 3. His career-best speed rating of 76 isn't far off the career-best 79 speed rating of favorite Textpectation (2/1). Broadway Pete also has a good jockey at the controls as Miguel Angel Vasquez holds a 14% win rate and 38% top-three rate here in 2020. We pick Broadway Pete to win this race, but if you want to play it safe, you can bet on the colt to place or show instead.
Liza Star and Cory Gal, Race 8
FD Racing Odds: 2/1 and 5/2
It's tough to look past these two in Race 8.
Liza Star (2/1) has speed for days. Across her past six races, the mare has posted a speed rating of at least 90 on four occasions, including ratings of 99 and 100. If she hits top form, this will be her race. Both our model and DHP expect that to happen as we pick Liza Star to win, with DHP giving her a 20% chance of victory. To top it all off, she'll be ridden by the successful Vasquez.
Cory Gal isn't quite on Liza Star's level, but she stands out from the rest of the pack in this small six-horse field. Cory Gal has put up speed ratings of 92, 85, and 86 across her past three, and she's won each of those events. To win this one, Cory Gal will need Liza Star to be at less than her best or to come up with a career-best effort. Edgard J. Zayas will help as the jockey has a 15% win rate and 44% top-three rate as the leading money winner here so far in 2020.
We have Liza Star and Cory Gal taking first and second, respectively, and they look like a good exacta bet.
