Charles Town Horse Racing Picks for Thursday 6/25/20

With most of the sports world on pause, it's a great time to dive into horse racing, and FanDuel Racing gives you the chance to do just that.

Starting at 7:00 p.m. EST, we have nine races at Charles Town. Using our projections as a guide, here are some of the best bets.

As always, keep an eye out for scratches and changes.

(I will be referencing Equibase's speed figure, which tells you how fast a horse has been running in each of its races -- adjusted for track, distances, and conditions.)

Singindownthelane, Race 3 (7:57 PM)

FD Racing Odds: 3/1

This is a pretty well-matched contest, with most of Race 3's competitors settling in the 50-60 speed figure range.

Singindownthelane is one of the lone potential exceptions, busting out with a 73 speed figure in a victory earlier this month. The filly wasn't at her best in May, posting a pair of figures in the 40s, but she's otherwise consistently hit marks in the 60s, so this latest stellar outing shouldn't be considered a fluke. Her career best is a 75 she notched this past October.

Of course, any viable contender needs a strong jockey, and Singindownthelane has that in Sunday Diaz, Jr., who ranks sixth in earnings at Charles Town this year.

Dancing Destiny could've been in the mix after posting a career-high 74 in her last appearance, but she was scratched this morning, further helping Singindownthelane's chances.

numberFire's model likes the filly to be victorious, too.

Bayou Bougie, Race 4 (8:25 PM)

FD Racing Odds: 5/2

Bayou Bougie is numberFire's pick to win a Race 4 where a speed figure in the 40s should get the job done. The filly did just that in her debut last month, achieving a 43 as a runner-up. Jockey Antonio Lopez is having a solid 2020, ranking 11th in earnings at Charles Town while placing top-three 39% of the time.

Buff N could be Bayou Bougie's toughest competition if she's at her best. She notched a career-best 56 speed figure in December (runner-up) but was well below that in her lone 2020 appearance (32). numberFire selects her to finish second.

Gallinella, Race 8 (10:17 PM)

FD Racing Odds: 2/1

Cool Mo was originally my pick to take Race 8, but with her getting scratched this morning, that leaves Gallinella (9/5) alone at the top.

The change also means that Gallinella now gets Cool Mo's jockey, Arnaldo Bocachica, who's far and away the top earner at this track in 2020. Overall, he's piling up wins at a stellar 30% rate and hitting the top three 57% of the time. He recorded even better marks in 2019, too.

Gallinella hasn't raced at all this year and disappointed in her last appearance in October. However, she was otherwise excellent in 2019, finishing top-three in seven of nine races while generally achieving speed figures in the 70s. She even produced a mark of 80 last May.

Everything lines up for Gallinella, and she's numberFire's top choice.
