Lone Star Park Horse Racing Picks for Tuesday 6/16/20

Lone Star Park has nine races slated for today. Which horses should you bet on at FanDuel Racing?

With most of the sports world on pause, it's a great time to dive into horse racing, and FanDuel Racing gives you the chance to do just that.

Starting at 2:35 p.m. EST today, we have nine races at Lone Star Park. Using our projections as a guide, here's a look at some of the best bets.

As always, keep an eye out for scratches and changes.

(I will be referencing Equibase's Speed Figure, which tells you how fast a horse has been running in each of its races -- adjusted for track, distances, and conditions)

Sailsinthesunset, Race 1 (2:35 PM)

FD Racing Odds: 3/1

Sailsinthesunset is not projected to finish top three by numberFire's model but I like the filly's odds in this maiden special weight. She's had an average speed figure of 69.3 in her last three efforts and had a decent outing at this track three weeks ago. She certainly has the ability to drop her maiden status.

Whichever of True Friend (4/5) or Misled (2/1) ends up with top jockey Stewart Elliott should be considered the favorite. True Friend is the most capable horse in this race and could win by a couple of lengths. Don't discount Miss Funny Gun (12/1). Her effort on this track 10 days ago showed a horse in excellent form. Kitchen Match (20/1) is a longshot who could be in the mix.

Let's Go Alamo and Capt. St. Jacques, Race 5 (4:43 PM)

FD Racing Odds: 2/1

It's tough to pass on the coupled colts, Let's Go Alamo and Capt. St. Jacques. Let's Go Alamo, in particular, has had the form that looks like a win is looming. His last race was a runner-up finish here at Lone Star where he posted a speed figure of 73. His workout here in late May was superb. He'll have jockey David Cabrera, who is second in earnings at this track in 2020. Capt. St. Jacques is making his debut after a number of solid efforts here in May.

Also making his debut is Hard Twist (10/1), a gelding from Kentucky. The three-year-old's workout here a week ago ranked one of the best at the track. Run to Fame (5/1) has his form trending in the right direction and is bound to pick up his first win in the near future. Betting favorite Waterwild (7/5) should be thereabouts in his debut.

Bella Moon, Race 8 (6:15 PM)

FD Racing Odds: 8/1

The last time we saw her, Bella Moon was in poor form, but that was way back in January. The mare -- who has already proven her winning ability -- has had two fantastic workouts at Lone Star in June. She's definitely in a position to exceed expectations.

Wishful Quality (5/2) is our model's runner up pick. The filly has won 5 of her 11 career efforts, though none of her last three. Her outing here in late May wasn't too bad. When we last saw our model's top pick, Distorted Flash (6/1), she was 3 3/4 lengths ahead of her next competitor in a win at Sam Houston. She attained a speed figure of 89 in that effort. Betting favorite Al Shamkhah (2/1) should certainly be in the mix with rider Stewart Elliott.

Sweet Linda, Race 9 (6:45 PM)

FD Racing Odds: 15/1

In her two races here over the last month, Sweet Linda has finished as the runner-up each time, posting speeds of 77 and 62, respectively. She'll have jockey David Cabrera to guide her to potential victory. I like the odds.

Our model has La Vida (3/1) placing first. The filly has had three consecutive figures above 70 and is in top form. This is a great opportunity for her to rid of her maiden tag. Brandons Babe (8/1) had an excellent showing here 9 days ago. Betting favorite Quickpay (2/1) will no doubt be in the mix. In the Red (5/1) should not be discounted.
