Thistledown Horse Racing Picks for Tuesday 6/16/20

With most of the sports world on pause, it's a great time to dive into horse racing, and FanDuel Racing gives you the chance to do just that.

Starting at 12:50 p.m. EST, we have nine races at Thistledown. Using our projections as a guide, here are some of the best bets.

As always, keep an eye out for scratches and changes.

Lewys Vaporizer, Race 1

FD Racing Odds: 2/1

Our model has Lewys Vaporizer (2/1) taking the day's opener. The gelding has been in the top two in four of his six 2020 events, per Equibase, including one win. The gelding delivered a top-two performance in half of his eight 2019 races. He'll have Hector Berrios guiding him through this six-horse field, and Berrios has been in the top three in 35% of his events so far in 2020.

It's worth noting we have Sing Him A Song, who is 6/1, placing. Sing Him A Song won in his last outing.

Stone Cold Cat, Race 5

FD Racing Odds: 9/5

Coming off a three-month break, Stone Cold Cat (9/5) warrants a look as the favorite in Race 5, which is another small six-horse field. The form is pretty darn good as Stone Cold Cat has gone 2-1-2-3-3 over his last five, according to Timeform.

For his career, the gelding has failed to finish in the top three just once in six races, and that one time came back in 2018. He'll be piloted by Thistledown veteran Erik Barbaran, who recorded a 46% top-three rate and 16% win rate here across 327 races in 2019.

Silver G T O and Chief Randel, Race 7

FD Racing Odds: 3/1 and 8/1

Race 7 brings us a longer shot who our model likes. We have Chief Randel (8/1) getting second in this one, and there are a few reasons to buy in. The colt has won twice over his last five races, and the jockey will be Agustin Bracho, owner of a 46% top-three rate at Thistledown in 2019.

Silver G T O (3/1) is our pick to win, something the gelding has done in each of his past two outings. He was ridden by David Cardoso in both of those wins, and Cardoso -- who had a 42% top-three rate here a year ago -- will be in the saddle again today.
