HORSE RACING

Belmont Park Horse Racing Picks for Saturday 6/13/20

With most of the sports world on pause, it's a great time to dive into horse racing, and FanDuel Racing gives you the chance to do just that.

Starting at 1:15 p.m. EST, we have 10 races at Belmont Park. Using our numberFire projections as a guide, here are some of the best bets.

As always, keep an eye out for scratches and changes, and check the weather and track conditions.

(I will reference Equibase's Speed Figure in selected races, which tells you how fast a horse has been running in each of its races -- adjusted for track, distances, and conditions).

Money in the Bank, Race 4

FD Odds: 6/1

At 2:55 ET, 11 state-breds will try the turf in this Maiden Claiming 6-furlong sprint. A good betting race that’s wide open, and Fluent in Sarcasm (9/2) should be strongly considered for EPO trainer Mike Maker. Three races at Gulfstream this year, including a pace-pressing fourth finish as favorite against better. Top jock Jose Ortiz rides for the first time as the top pick at numberFire.

A longshot in this race for New York horses is Long Island City (12/1). One of many trying the turf following a dirt debut. A recent work offers hope for better.

Money in the Bank (6/1) has the right name and is working the best for his 2020 debut. Should prove to be good value along with Go Rudy Go (8/1), who returns quickly off a fourth-place finish June 4. Interesting.

Outrageous Bet, Race 6

FD Odds: 15/1

Race 6 is the start of the Late Pick 5, and 12 runners have lined up for this 6-furlong sprint on the inner turf. The aptly named Outrageous Bet (15/1) offers solid value. She’s a closer who won on the New York circuit late last year, posting a 97 speed figure, and again while running at Tampa Bay early this year.

Breaking next to our upset pick is No. 9 Pagliacci (7/2), who is the top pick at numberFire. However, Jockey Jose Lezcano has won just one of 31 races at this meet. FanDuel Racing's odds give him a 22% chance to win with race favorite Kitten’ Kat (3/1) a popular play as Ortiz rides again for Mike Maker.

Blamed, Race 9

FD Odds: 10/1

A compact field of six fillies and mares for the Grade 1 Ogden Phipps. This one-turn, 1 1/16-mile race for $300K will set up with a slower pace, and HRN's Super Screener likes Blamed (10/1) to take the lead and potentially hold off her challengers. She has won 9-of-13 races on a fast track, and SS projects a big move forward. Her stablemate Golden Award (7/2) is another money runner for trainer Bill Mott, as she has finished first or second in 8-of-10 races on a fast track.

Ollie’s Candy (8/5) is the pace-pressing favorite with strong stretch runner Joel Rosario looking to bring her home a winner for the first time in 11 months. She has hit the board four times since with multiple triple-digit speed figures. numberFire projects her on top and so does Daily Horse Picks. No value on the win end, but Late Pick 5 players will include.
