Charles Town Horse Racing Picks for Thursday 6/11/20

With most of the sports world on pause, it's a great time to dive into horse racing, and FanDuel Racing gives you the chance to do just that.

Starting at 7:00 p.m. EST this evening, we have nine races at Charles Town. Using our projections as a guide, here's a look at some of the best bets.

As always, keep an eye out for scratches and changes.

(I will be referencing Equibase's Speed Figure, which tells you how fast a horse has been running in each of its races -- adjusted for track, distances, and conditions)

Estate Of Sonde, Race 1 (7:00 PM)

FD Racing Odds: 9/5

For the first race of the evening, I like the current (slight) betting favorite. Estate Of Sonde finished her 2019 season in great form but has yet to race in 2020. The mare had two superb workouts in May at similar distances to today's outing. Her last victory came in very similar circumstances.

Paint It Green (2/1) has placed top-three in four of her last five efforts. The filly will be jockeyed by Arnaldo Bocachica, who's the current leader in purse at this track by quite a bit. Love Happy (4/1) has had excellent form of late and must be considered. Ellie Bear (9/2) should be thereabouts.

Peaceful Child, Race 2 (7:30 PM)

FD Racing Odds: 4/1

Peaceful Child is not projected to finish top-three by numberFire, but I like her odds in this one. The filly placed third in her first career race, which came at this track a month ago. She posted a speed figure of 46 in that effort. The maiden's recent workouts have shown a horse close to getting her first victory.

Sing Frosty (10/1) is coming off a career-best effort here and could see her form pay off here. Makin Us Look Good (7/2) has had figures of 50 and 45 in her last two, and will look to translate that into a victory. Copelanquikzip (12/1) could surprise.

Silk Stocking, Race 6 (9:21 PM)

FD Racing Odds: 2/1

Silk Stocking is the current betting favorite with fantastic form. The filly has won four of her seven career outings and has posted consecutive figures of 84 -- not many horses in this race can make that claim. She should be well in the mix.

Our algorithm's pick, Banana Anna (5/2), was near a career-best form in her last races in January. The mare had placed first in two of her last four. Fonda Romana (12/1) might be the most capable horse in this race, but her recent form has been trending in the wrong direction. Floating By (6/1) should be thereabouts.

Backcat, Race 8 (10:17 PM)

FD Racing Odds: 8/1

numberFire's runner-up pick has a great chance in this contest. The filly has posted speeds of 78 and 79 in her last two efforts, resulting in a first- and a second-place finish, respectively. Her last five outings have seen her place 1-3-2-1-2. She'll be ridden by Jose Montano, who has won 19 percent of his 118 races here in 2020.

It would stun me if Azzura (5/2) doesn't win or place. Her form has been top-notch, which has led to her finishing top-two in three straight. Her outings at Charles Town in May were as encouraging as it gets. Ocean Lilly (5/1) is another horse who must garner consideration. Win Then Grin (3/1) should certainly be in the mix.
