Santa Anita Horse Racing Picks for Sunday 6/7/20

With most of the sports world on pause, it's a great time to dive into horse racing, and FanDuel Racing gives you the chance to do just that.

Starting at 3:30 p.m. EST, we have eight races at Santa Anita. Using our numberFire projections as a guide, here are some of the best bets.

As always, keep an eye out for scratches and changes.

I will reference Equibase's Speed Figure in selected races, which tells you how fast a horse has been running in each of its races -- adjusted for track, distances, and conditions.

Carrie’s Success, Race 2

FD Odds: 5/2

A seven-furlong sprint for fillies and mares to complete the Daily Double, and Majestic Diva (2/1) on the far outside Post 7 is the top pick of numberFire. She has 40 career races and had a speed figure-best 90 in her nine-length win in January at this distance. A repeat puts her in the winners circle.

Desert Smoke has never won a sprint start in 11 tries (7/2) but has won eight times in route races.

Try Northern California-based Carrie's Success (5/2) from the rail off her recent pair of runner-up finishes. Her speed figures fit at this level, and Daily Horse Picks has her top-two again with FanDuel Racing's odds giving her a 29% chance to win.

Appreciated, Race 4

FD Odds: 5/2

Race 4 is the start of the 20-cent Rainbow Pick 6 Jackpot. There are four competitively priced contenders in this stat-bred Allowance race, which is going 6.5 furlongs. The favorite, My Paytience (8/5), benefits from the pace that is mostly short on speed. He chased solid fractions last race in May and finished second off a long layoff. Could wire this group.

Rise and Repeat (7/2) looms as your best contender at a price in peak form. Appreciated (5/2) on the rail drops from open company to state-bred off a career-best 107 speed figure three weeks ago. He closed from off the pace to finish a very close fourth in a shorter sprint.

Jamming Eddy (5/2) returns off a pace-pressing turf effort at a mile just two weeks ago. EPO trainer Miller must like what he saw and returns Jamming Eddy to dirt cutting back. He placed third on dirt two races ago and has five-straight races of 90-plus speed figures. Just one win in 16 starts but numberFire still has him hitting the board. Interesting.

McKinzie, Race 8

FD Odds: 3/5

The $200K Triple Bend Stakes (G2) at seven furlongs. We’ll waste little time here with just five runners and the prohibitive favorite McKinzie (3/5) your most likely winner with Mike Smith riding for trainer Bob Baffert. FanDuel Racing's odds have McKinzie with a whopping 63% probability to win. He towers over this field in class and speed and has seven wins in 15 starts with $3.3 million in earnings. He was working beautifully in his return off a layoff in preparation for the July 4 Met Mile (G1) at Belmont. Single as part of your rolling Late Pick 3.
