HORSE RACING

Belmont Park Horse Racing Picks for Friday 6/5/20

With most of the sports world on pause, it's a great time to dive into horse racing, and FanDuel Racing gives you the chance to do just that.

Starting at 1:15 p.m. EST, we have 10 races at Belmont Park. Using our numberFire projections as a guide, here are some of the best bets.

As always, keep an eye out for scratches and changes and check the weather and track conditions.

(I will reference Equibase's Speed Figure in selected races, which tells you how fast a horse has been running in each of its races -- adjusted for track, distances, and conditions).

Bredenbury, Race 8

FD Odds: 4/1

A competitive field for this Allowance race at 6 furlongs on the turf and Irish-bred Bredenbury (4/1) just missed finishing second at Tampa Bay in February. He ran on the front end going a mile, and the cutback in his return looks better with the horse that beat her winning a graded stakes in her next race.

FanDuel Racing gives Bredenbury a 20% chance to win behind the favorite Voting Agreement (5/2) and Catch a Thrill (7/2). Hall of Fame jockey John Velazquez rides Bredenbury looking for his fifth win in last seven starts for trainer Graham Motion. Lightly-raced longshot Miss Peppina (12-1) should be included in the Late Pick 3 as she switches surfaces off a long layoff having run in a pair of grades stakes last fall.

Royal Charlotte, Race 9

FD Odds: 3/1

Friday’s feature is the $80,000 Harmony Lodge Stakes for older fillies and mares going 6 furlongs. Trainer Bob Baffert has arrived at Belmont and has the favorite Mother Mother (2/1) breaking from Post 9. She’ll take money as the numberFire top pick having hit the board in four straight starts at Santa Anita with triple-digit Equibase figures.

We’ll turn to hot EPO trainer Chad Brown and Royal Charlotte (3/1) to cash in off the long layoff having won five of seven starts including a pair of graded stakes last summer. Daily Horse Picks rates Royal Charlotte the best speed in the race and best chance to finish first or second for straight bets and Pick 3 players.

Its a Wrap, Race 10

FD Racing Odds: 8/1

Completing the late Pick 3 and we stretch out the odds with Its a Wrap (8/1) in this Maiden Special Weight 6 furlong sprint on the inner turf.

It’s a Wrap breaks outside in Post 11, switches surfaces after two starts but has grass breeding and a strong pair of recent works. Look for a good break running well and near the lead with solid value to hit the board or steal this from trainer Chad Brown and the favorite Complex System (5/2) -- who has also been off since January with a second and third place finish.

Propensity (7/2) is a Pick 3 inclusion, and posted the highest Equibase speed figure of these runners in hitting 96 when finishing third running on the lead in a full field his last race in late March.
