HORSE RACING

Laurel Park Horse Racing Picks for Friday 6/5/20

With most of the sports world on pause, it's a great time to dive into horse racing, and FanDuel Racing gives you the chance to do just that.

Starting at 12:40 p.m. EST, we have nine races at Laurel Park. Using our projections as a guide, here are some of the best bets.

As always, keep an eye out for scratches and changes.

Twirling Liz, Race 4

FD Racing Odds: 15/1

Despite coming in at the second-longest odds in Race 4, Twirling Liz has been in great form dating back to November (1-2-3-2), with her latest appearance being a victory at this distance with a career-best 90 Speed Figure, per Equibase. It's worth noting her last race came in February, though she's performed well in recent May workouts.

Jockey Johan Rosado has produced in 2020, too, cracking the top three in 40% of his races.

Twirling Liz also rates favorably against this field in numberFire's power rating and high speed rating. Our model predicts her to take this contest, making her a great potential betting value today.

He's One Wild Dude, Race 8

FD Racing Odds: 5/1

He's One Wild Dude checks in with the third-shortest odds for Race 8, and while this will be his first 2020 appearance, his 2019 results were pretty solid. Last year, he was top three in 7 of 10 races, and his high-water mark was a win in August that came with a career-high 102 Speed Figure.

Timeform picks He's One Wild Dude to win, while numberFire's model likes him to finish third.

He'll have Kevin Gomez riding today, who's getting top three 48% of the time in 2020.

Can't Pass It Up, Race 9

FD Racing Odds: 4/1

Race 9 could be a tight contest against several worthy contenders, but things should get a little easier with Muchacho (4/1) getting scratched.

Can't Pass It Up could be worth a wager at the next-best odds behind favorite Buddy's Run (5/2). Can't Pass It Up is coming off a career-best 102 Speed Figure that's identical to what Buddy's Run put up in his last race (also a career-best).

And it's hard to argue with Can't Pass It Up's recent results, too, regularly finishing top three since October (4-2-3-2-1-1-2). The gelding could also get a boost from jockey Feargal Lynch, who's been rattling off top-three finishes at a stellar 60% clip through 40 starts in 2020.

Both numberFire and Timeform like Can't Pass It Up as their second-favorite horse in Race 9.
