Lone Star Park Horse Racing Picks for Wednesday 6/3/20

Lone Star Park has nine races slated for today. Which horses should you bet on at FanDuel Racing?

With most of the sports world on pause, it's a great time to dive into horse racing, and FanDuel Racing gives you the chance to do just that.

Starting at 2:35 p.m. EST today, we have nine races at Lone Star Park. Using our projections as a guide, here's a look at some of the best bets.

As always, keep an eye out for scratches and changes.

(I will be referencing Equibase's Speed Figure, which tells you how fast a horse has been running in each of its races -- adjusted for track, distances, and conditions)

Doc's Denita, Race 1

FD Racing Odds: 6/1

numberFire's model is projecting Doc's Denita to finish first in the opening race of the day at Lone Star Park. The filly won her only race of 2020, just 10 days ago at this very same track. She's placed top-three in five of her last six efforts here. She's posted Speed Figures above 60 in her last two races, after not doing so in any of her previous outings.

Though her finishes might not show it, betting favorite Twirling Around (6/5) has had great form of late compared to this field. She's posted Figures of 67 and 61 and her mid-May workout at Lone Star was superb. She'll be in the mix. Tristan's Gold (4/1) and Silver Coin (5/1) merit consideration as well.

Bold Rey, Race 2

FD Racing Odds: 5/2

Bold Rey isn't one of our model's top-three picks, but I like the mare's chances here. She's coming off a win here nine days ago where she achieved an impressive Speed Figure of 90. It was her second consecutive win and third in four tries. She's placed first in three of her four career races at Lone Star. Her mid-May workout at this track was fantastic. She'll be jockeyed by Stewart Elliott, who has placed first in 10 of his 35 races here in 2020.

Amandrea (5/2) is also coming off a victory and our model likes her to make it back-to-back. The filly reached a Figure of 85 in her March victory. Betting favorite Fool's Paradise (2/1) has placed second in consecutive outings, but her Figures in those efforts -- 88 and 92 -- tell the story of a horse in great form. Potra Liza (20/1) has won 6 of her last 11 races and is a longshot worth considering. Houston Strong (9/2) should be in the mix as well.

Handsome Honey, Race 5

FD Racing Odds: 12/1

Despite the 12/1 odds, our models like Handsome Honey to place first in Race 5, and for good reason. The gelding has placed first in two of his three races this year, posting Figures of 90 and 92 in those victories. In his workout here 12 days ago, he ranked 1st of 61 horses.

Speaking of good form, Thrasher's (5/1) has been fantastic. The gelding has placed top-three in each of his four 2020 races and has achieved Speed Figures above 90 in each of his last three. Betting favorite Carribean (8/5) has three top-two finishes in four races since February. He reached Speeds of 90-plus in two of those four. Had an impressive workout six days ago. Papa's Boy (3/1) should also be in the mix, as should Aqwaam (4/1).

Curlin's Journey, Race 8

FD Racing Odds: 8/1

numberFire's algorithm has Curlin's Journey posting a runner-up finish, but I could see her placing first. The mare's three 2020 races have been underwhelming, but prior to that, she had achieved Speed Figures of 100 or better in five of her previous six efforts. Her two workouts here in the last two weeks show a horse trending in the right direction.

Our model likes betting favorite Quebec (2/1) to take this one to the barn, and given her current form, it's a good pick. The mare has placed top-two in two of her last four, reaching an average Figure of 100.3 in those outings. Both of her May workouts here were outstanding. Classy Act (7/2) is numberFire's pick to get the Bronze. She's ranked first in three straight workouts, and was victorious in her second-to-last victory in February. Cowgirls Like Us (4/1) is coming off a victory and must garner consideration.
