HORSE RACING

Tampa Bay Downs Horse Racing Picks for Wednesday 5/27/20

With most of the sports world on pause, it's a great time to dive into horse racing, and FanDuel Racing gives you the chance to do just that.

Starting at 1:00 p.m. EST, we have nine races at Tampa Bay Downs. Using our projections as a guide, here are some of the best bets.

As always, keep an eye out for scratches and changes.

Commission, Race 1

FD Racing Odds: 8/1

Commission hasn't had the best results lately, but the same can be said for most of the horses in Race 1, and she's intriguing at 8/1 odds. The filly has just four career races, but she placed second in her August debut, which is the form we hope to see today.

Outside of Commission, only Biz Maker (5/2) has ever placed second, but that's occurred just once in eight races. Even favorite I Am A. Luring (8/5) has never finished better than 4th in 17 career attempts.

Commission is numberFire's projected winner today, and she boasts the best power rating in this field. Timeform also sees her coming away with a victory.

Hay Hay My My, Race 4

FD Racing Odds: 5/2

Hay Hay My My is the favorite to win Race 4, and his chances should only get better with Finally (4/1) among the scratches this morning. Finally was projected to finish third in numberFire's model.

As for Hay Hay My My, he's been on a strong run in 2020, finishing no worse than fourth in seven races with three runner-ups. Two of those second-place results have come in his most recent outings, so maybe this is the race he finally gets over the hump.

The gelding is the pick by both numberFire and Timeform, and only Old Fort (7/2) rivals him in power rating and high speed rating.

Cpl. Dionicio, Race 6

FD Racing Odds: 5/2

Cpl. Dionicio has had next to no missteps dating back to November, rattling off eight top-three finishes in nine attempts, including a pair of wins. He's posted an Equibase Speed Figure of 74 and 75 in his past two appearances.

With those kinds of credentials, it isn't surprising to see the gelding favored today, and numberFire sees him succeeding. Timeform also likes him to win.
