Tampa Bay Downs Horse Racing Picks for Wednesday 5/20/20

With most of the sports world on pause, it's a great time to dive into horse racing, and FanDuel Racing gives you the chance to do just that.

Starting at 1:00 p.m. EST, we have nine races at Tampa Bay Downs. Using our projections as a guide, here are some of the best bets.

As always, keep an eye out for scratches and changes.

Meilleur, Race 1

FD Racing Odds: 4/1

Meilleur will have to contend with Gran Greyfrost (5/2) and The Kahn (7/2), but you're getting more betting value at 4/1 odds.

numberFire's model projects the gelding to win Race 1, and he's also dubbed the safest choice on Timeform. Daily Horse Picks gives him the second-best figure in pace and grants him a respectable 33% chance of cracking the top three.

Meilleur's recent form has been up and down, but the highs have been pretty good in 2020, finishing top-three in 6 of 10 races, with a victory in March. All those races have come at Tampa Bay Downs, too, so he's no stranger to these parts.

Karma King (5/1) could also be worth a look as numberFire's projected runner-up. DHP sees Karma King having a 32% shot at finishing top three.

Pollard Star, Race 2

FD Racing Odds: 6/1

High Five Cotton (2/1) is the favorite of Race 2 and numberFire's pick to win, but you'll get more bang for your buck from Pollard Star (6/1), who our model likes to finish third. DHP gives Pollard Star a 35% chance of finish first, second, or third.

The gelding hasn't raced since October, which is a slight concern, but he was in good form last year. He finished top-two in six of eight races in 2019, including two wins.

Yei Yei, Race 5

FD Racing Odds: 9/2

Race 5 favorite Catch Ya Later Bro (2/1) has been scratched, so this race is wide open. The odds will likely change, but Yei Yei is one such horse who could take advantage at 9/2 odds.

Yei Yei is the top choice in numberFire's model and is the pick on Timeform, as well. The colt didn't perform well his last time out, but he's placed second or third in three of five 2020 races (5-2-8-2-3).
