HORSE RACING

Golden Gate Fields Horse Racing Picks for Thursday 5/14/20

With most of the sports world on pause, it's a great time to dive into horse racing, and FanDuel Racing gives you the chance to do just that.

Starting at 3:45 p.m. EST, we have nine races at Golden State Fields. Using our projections as a guide, here are some of the best bets.

As always, keep an eye out for scratches and changes.

Lady of Perception, Race 1

FD Racing Odds: 10/1

Lady of Perception only has two races under her belt, but she won her first career race in February and then followed that up with a third-place showing in March -- one that she lost by just 1.25 lengths. It's worth noting that both races were fields of only six, but it's still a positive start to the filly's racing career.

She also showed well in her workout earlier this week, ranking second among eight horses.

numberFire's model projects Lady of Perception to finish third, which is pretty good for a horse sitting on the second-longest odds to win. Posh Holly (Ire) is the top projected horse at 4/1 odds over the favorite, Shanghai Truffles (5/2).

Super Party, Race 3

FD Racing Odds: 10/1

Unlike Lady of Perception, Super Party's debut didn't go quite as swimmingly, with the filly finishing eighth out of nine in March.

And yet, our projections like Super Party to finish second today despite the longer odds. This could be due in part to her competition. Two of the eight other competitors today will be making their racing debut, while three others have raced two or fewer times.

Super Party's speed figure rates pretty well according to DailyHorsePicks.com, coming in as the field's second-fastest.

Gold N Grand, Race 5

FD Racing Odds: 10/1

Another longshot to win, Gold N Grand is looking like a mighty good value as numberFire's projected winner of Race 5.

The gelding has a rather spotty track record (2-6-11-8-4), but that second-place finish did come in his last race (also at Golden Gate Fields).

His speed figure checks out on DailyHorsePicks.com (third-fastest), where he's also viewed favorably.

Gain Ground, Race 9

FD Racing Odds: 12/1

Our final value bet of the day, Gain Ground is coming off a poor showing in his last race but placed second at the same distance (one mile) in March. He also had a third-place finish in a November one-mile race.

Gain Ground has the top speed figure on DailyHorsePicks.com, as well. He's numberFire's pick to finish second behind Soberano (Fr), who is a safe pick at 7/2 odds.
