HORSE RACING

Remington Park Horse Racing Picks for Friday 5/8/20

With most of the sports world on pause, it's a great time to dive into horse racing, and FanDuel Racing gives you the chance to do just that.

Starting at 7 p.m. EST tonight, we have 10 races at Remington Park. Using our projections as a guide, here are some of the best bets.

My Favorite Class, Race 1

FD Racing Odds: 12/1

The night's opening race is shaping up as a volatile one. Of the 10 horses in the field, only five have run at Remington Park, per Timeform, and none of them have run 350 yards, which is the length of tonight's event. Also, none of the horses have finished better than third before, so it's not a bad race to take a stab at an underdog here given all the unknowns.

Our models have My Favorite Class (12/1) winning. The colt has run at Remington once, finishing third back on March 20. Going by the speed rating at DailyHorsePicks.com, My Favorite Class is in a group with two other horses as the fastest ones in the field, and all three are going off in the first three lanes. My Favorite Class has a 32% chance to finish in the top three, per DailyHorsePicks.

Willie Mcbride, Race 2

FD Racing Odds: 20/1

Willie Mcbride, who is 20/1, is another long shot our projections favor as we have the gelding winning Race 2, another 350-yarder.

Similar to Race 1, no horses in the race have run at 350 yards before, and just half of the 10-horse field has previously run at Remington. Willie Mcbride has more experience than all of them, taking to the track three times previously. While he's gotten just sixth each time, his last race was his best as he finished only 1.45 lengths behind the winner.

Jess Kiss Me (4/1) is the favorite and has the top speed rating, according to DailyHorsePicks. But Jess Kiss Me has never run father than 300 yards -- Willie Mcbride has gone 330 yards on two occasions -- and got eighth in her last appearance.

Bp Primetime and Lanies Star Dancer, Race 9

FD Racing Odds: 10/1 and 12/1

One Incredible Hock (5/2) is the favorite in Race 9, but our models have Bp Primetime (10/1) and Lanies Star Dancer (12/1) taking the top two spots, with Bp Primetime winning. It's another 350-yard race in which no horses in the field have run 350 yards before.

Bp Primetime has run three times at Remington, more than any other horse in the race, and the gelding got second in his last outing, coming in just 0.75 lengths behind the winner. Lanies Star Dancer has one previous showing at Remington, a race in which the colt finished fifth, 1.35 lengths out of first.

Per the speed rating at DailyHorsePicks, Lanies Star Dancer is the second-fastest horse in the field while Bp Primetime checks in tied for fourth. Among the horses with a speed rating in this field, One Incredible Hock ranks last, so this looks like a spot to avoid the favorite.
