Remington Park Horse Racing Picks for Thursday 5/7/20
With most of the sports world on pause, it's a great time to dive into horse racing, and FanDuel Racing gives you the chance to do just that.
Starting at 7 p.m. EST tonight we have 10 races at Remington Park. Using our projections as a guide, here are some of the best bets.
Df Fabulous Flame, Race 6
FD Racing Odds: 5/1
Per the odds on FanDuel Racing, Df Fabulous Flame is just the third favorite, but our models have the filly winning, making her an obvious value pick -- at least going by our numbers.
She has run twice at Remington, finishing second and third in those events. The runner-up finish came on March 27, and Df Fabulous Flame nearly won, getting nosed out by 0.1 lengths. That race was the same surface (dirt) and distance (250 yards) as this one, and it was also a Maiden Claiming event. Df Fabulous Flame is going off in Lane 1 and owns the best speed rating in the race, via DailyHorsePicks.com.
Bp Fancy Lady, the favorite (3/1), will likely be the biggest competition. She's run just once at Remington, placing third.
Hes Reckless and Alamitos Dreams, Race 7
FD Racing Odds: 4/1 and 20/1
The favorite in Race 7 is Bv Thisgirlsonfire, listed at 3/1, but our projections see value in betting on some underdogs in this race -- namely Hes Reckless and Alamitos Dreams.
Alamitos Dreams (20/1) is a long shot who our projections like as we have the Filly placing second behind Hes Reckless (4/1). Depending on your appetite for risk, you can go a few ways when betting these two.
Alamitos Dreams -- who is going off in the outside lane -- has not run at Remington while Hes Reckless has run once, taking eighth out of nine horses over a 330-yard event back on April 20. Not a lot to love there.
But this race -- which will go 300 yards -- is a bit of a wild card as seven of the 10 horses will be making their Remington debut. Of the three with experience, only one horse has done better than fifth, with Bv Thisgirlsonfire placing third on April 20.
Based on that, it makes sense that Bv Thisgirlsonfire is the favorite, but our models have her finishing outside the top three. We project Hes Reckless to win, Alamitos Dreams to place second and Dashin Thief (15/1) to come in third.
Apollitical Mogul, Race 10
FD Racing Odds: 7/2
The night finishes with what should be a doozie in Race 10. There's 12 horses in the field, and six of them are at 10/1 or better.
Our models like the favorite, siding with Apollitical Mogul, who is 7/2 to win.
Apollitical Mogul, starting from the No. 2 post, has won twice over its last five races, emerging victorious once apiece at both Remington and Prairie Meadows. The win at Remington came on March 19. In the filly's last competition, which also came at Remington, she placed just fifth, but it was a tight race as she finished just 0.5 lengths behind the winner. That was a 300-yard event.
In her past four races of 350 yards or more, Apollitical Mogul has two firsts and a third, with one dud (eighth) mixed in. In her past four races with Berkley R. Packer -- who rides tonight -- as the jockey, she's finished third or better three times. She has the top speed rating in Race 10, according to DailyHorsePicks.
Lota Stars Falling (5/1) is the only other horse in the field who has won in 2020, with the mare taking first and second in her two 2020 races.
It's also worth mentioning Ricardos Cartel, who we have taking second and is listed at 10/1, the sixth-favorite.
